The suites at the Grand Hyatt are 80sqm so I may stay there instead.

We looked at, but never stayed in the suite. Reminds me of the corner suites at the GH HKG. I love the Park but the suites at the GH are bigger, or the ones we have seen anyway. The place is full with tennis tragics at the moment, all of MEL is packed out, not a good time to go for a suite, but the club floor is ok. You get around M0hamed, you are worse than we are,:)

I've stayed at the GH Melbourne and got upgraded to a suite. It was large, and the club lounge is very cool, but I didn't like the fitness facilities.

The Club Deluxe Rooms at the PH are very nice, and I receieved one on the top floor with a fireplace! Not looking to mid February so I think the tennis is over.

May I know did you stay GH MEL after room renovation?

A great stay for me there recently in a non-renovated but very comfortable suite.
I was allowed to to upgrade the entire stay even though it was a combo of paid and award nights.
Spa was nice with a quiet outside area, large pool and jacuzzi and molton brown amenities. Wine and cookies diamond amenity, free breakfast buffet. Very spacious lounge.
Lots of parking on nearby streets. Not far from everything (especially with MEL trams) but feels much more exclusive and upscale than any of the more central hotels. I stopped by to take a look at GH but the lobby was packed with some rather loud tour group checking in. No such nonsense at PH.
My only complaint is that they need more international TV channels. Other than that it's ^^ from me

I take it they are now charging to upgrade on award and revenue for Diamonds?
That wasn't the case in the past

I believe he is referring to the fact that they applied the upgrade on the award nights as well. I have never had an issue getting automatically upgraded at both properties. The PH Club Deluxe Rooms are much nice and bigger than the GH.

Thanks hope that all is still good with GP recognition at both properties

Correct. I used diamond suite upgrade certs on a combination of paid and award nights. It was very nice of them.

Checked in yesterday, 3rd stay as a Diamond. Expected to be upgraded to a Club Deluxe, but was met by the Assistant Manager and was informed they'd upgraded me to a Park Suite.

Was escorted to the Cathedral wing, a much quieter, exclusive part of the hotel. The suite had doors that opened overlooking St Patrick's Cathedral. The size seems exactly the same as a Club Deluxe, but the rooms are separate.

I had used a suite upgrade that was expiring at the GH the day before, which I had considered using at the PH so A+ to both stays!

Great minds think alike, they put me on the 12th floor on the corner, thought the bedroom was a wee small, bathroom ok, and the only problem I had was the dual airconditioning controls, the bedroom was hot, whereas the lounge was cool, but on the second morning I pulled all the shades and the airconditioning was able to cope. I did have to ask for "Diamond' amenities, which is a shame and chocolates etc arrived but what I love is the GP early morning cup of tea as I wake up. No we don't do that was finally followed by "just for you". Club lounge was open but not available for breakfast, read somewhere they give a bonus for this, is that true?, seems cheeky considering it involved a FFN with a suite upgrade

We must've been in the same room 1247. I was woken at 9AM (late night) by a mechanic who came to fix it. I sternly told him to go away. I kept the a/c off and opened the doors. Was given a fruit plate that I assumed was the amenity.

I've never had breakfast in the lounge, much prefer restaurant breakfasts anyway. I think the point bonus is only if the club is closed. It was opening for drinks and canapes though the GH club offering is much nicer. Watermelon with mint etc.

Just came back from a 3 night stay. We had 3 rooms of which 2 I was able to upgrade to Park Suites. We stayed on the 12th floor and had rooms overlooking the cathedral. The staff were excellent and everyone always seemed to know who we were (maybe because we were loud?!). This was my first stay as a diamond and I would definitely stay at this property again.

A consistently great property. Although was not met with the duty manager (this perk actually causes me to be uncomfortable) I was checked in swiftly and once again upgraded to the Club Deluxe Room with Cathedral views. Interestingly as others have mentioned in North America the F & B amenity appears to now be just beverage with a bottle of red wine. No apples and no Lindt chocolates.
