NEWS!

NEW LOUNGE!!! The lounge has been moved to the 12th floor. The new space will be fabulous! Much larger and with a very large patio with lots of outdoor seating.
Should be open in the next week or so.
They are also renovating the pool area (timing might have been better on this project) and it will be very cool when complete. Nice to see the property is being progressive in upkeep and maintainance

Also I had dinner in the hotel's Dawsons restaurant and it was great. I also noticed that the restaurant attractss a lot of non-hotel guests who have become regulars. Open Table had no reservations between 6:30 and 9:30 and so we ate at the bar.

I'll be there quite a bit over the next month and look forward to checking it out! Tiny dark lounge was one of the real negatives at this property.

Hoping the new lounge will still be closed over the weekend. I'd rather have 2500 points and a full restaurant breakfast.

As of now they plan to have the club closed Friday afternoon to Monday evening. So the closed lounge bonus will continue

I was just there and checked out the new lounge. The space is a big improvement. I was told this used to be Arnold's suite when he was governor. I imagine a few cigars were smoked on the terrace

The terrace is the big news. It's really nice:

The should put some chaises longues up here. It's really spacious.

The food and beverage area could get a little tight:

Bonus points if anyone knows how to rotate photos uploaded to the FT gallery:

Breakfast was the same as always. They did not have the cookies out this afternoon. Hope that's not a permanent change.

Otherwise the stay was as usual. Super nice staff. Big hassle to get a decent room (Q: "Why didn't you give me the corner room in the first place?" A: "You didn't book that room type."). Internet was terrible . . . I now just use my iPhone as personal hotspot.

Funny you mention the corner room thing, it seems to me that in order to receive an upgrade here you always have to ask for it.

I have about five stays this year yet there is no consistency of treatment, no recognition of preferences, etc. This hotel is just so yin/yang - some great features and some awful ones.

Diamonds take note . . . they are now treating 12th floor as a club floor (that's where the new lounge is) but the rooms are not as nice as 10th floor. Avoid.

That space where the new lounge is looks like it is what used to be the suite that Governator Arnie used as his living quarters when resident in Sacramento. I believe the outdoor area was his cigar smoking locale. Much nicer opening up as a club now.

One of the reasons I have a love/hate with this property.

Download speeds last night over a 20 minute span were 0.00, 6.18, 2.13, 26.19, 5.06, 4.60. Spent forever on the phone with tech support and they had no clue what the problem was.

Have decided I don't like the new lounge. It's all hard surfaces and not welcoming. They need umbrellas on the tables outside . . . if they did that, breakfast on the terrace would be pretty nice.

I use the device from www.yourkarma.com when I run into this problem.

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Hyatt usually has really good internet . . . it's one of the major reasons I switched primary programs from Hilton. But ironically, ES Sacramento has much better wifi than HR. I just can't handle that ES breakfast . . . .

It appears that this property is now blocking out all C+P awards on Saturday nights now requiring a min of two nights. Major bummer, this property has always regularly offered C+P rates, not sure when the change happened but I think it has to be recent.

Anyone know when this was put in place.

May I ask what this device is. The website for it doesn't explain much.

Pay as you go data (with monthly options as well) and you can get more data if you share data with other people. I have used it a few times and I was ok, but now I just share data from my iPhone after AT&T lowered their pricing.

Had a stay this past Friday night. Asked for an executive corner king at check in, got one on the 9th floor. Stayed on a nice BRG rate of $110 a night, almost 4500 total points for the stay after the 1K amenity and 2.5K for club closure.

Once again ordered off the regular menu versus taking the buffet, all charges were removed. Not sure if this is a laid back policy of buffet only but I've been successful twice in a row now. The banana, avocado and kale smoothie is excellent.
