I had an excellent stay here this week. The DSU got me a beautiful executive suite. A five minute delay while they checked me in - resulted in a bucket of cokes being delivered to the room (I don't drink alcohol).
Breakfast was great, the turndown was at 7pm (not 9pm as happened to another poster). Of course its not the PH Tokyo - but its not that price either.
Thoroughly recommended.

So many mixed reviews on customer service at this property that I've completely written it off, and I'm in Chicago at least 5-6 times a year. There are too many Hyatts in Chicago to gamble on a stay being worth it here.

I would try the hotel once, but I will never walk back into that place. You can get Park Hyatt prices at the Peninsula if you want a true 5 star experience.

How does the Park Hyatt Chicago compare to the Waldorf Astoria Chicago(which I love)? I have a DSU I need to allocate before month end and was thinking of changing one of my Waldorf reservations for the Summer to Park Hyatt.

To answer your question:
I believe most of the rooms have not been renovated. I've only stayed in a suite, which was half renovated. It's been posted that they now upgrade to a suite one level higher. Definitely a step down from WA but I stilled enjoyed my stay at PH Chicago. The welcome amenity was worthwhile, rather than points and a free breakfast, which can be had as room service, is a plus.

I too am a HUGE fan of WA Chicago. It's my favorite US hotel. I even prefer it to Langham Chicago, which is also pretty amazing. Mostly suites which means a great chance of getting a suite when you book a regular room. Good service for a US hotel with no tipping policy. Modern elegance with the my favorite hotel bathroom, hands down. Wish PH Vendome with renovate to look like WA Chicago.

Thanks, much appreciate your comments. Waldorf Astoria Chicago is also my fave US hotel and I think its Hilton's best US prop without question. Every stay there feels like a special treat and its the embodiment of what the Waldorf Astoria name should be (unlike the NY namesake which don't get me started on). Last time I got upgraded from a Astoria Suite to a Luxury Suite which I immensely enjoyed. It seems like Park Hyatt is only worth it if it is priced at a discount to WA. The Hyatt Magnificent Mile seems to be well thought on this thread so I will definitely have to try to test out a night during one of my stays.
WA needs a Nespesso to make it perfect for me.

QQ, thinking of booking a stay for 4 people(including myself) and using a DSU if available. Can anyone comment if there are occupancy restrictions on their suites? I'm under the impression that I should have no problem booking a room and having 4 guests stay there as well as receiving breakfast for 4 at nomi. TIA

Breakfast at Nomi is delicious (there is no limit if you're diamond). If you can't make it to Nomi, in room dining breakfast is free too!
I've seen mixed reviews here for this property but service has been excellent for me.
