Will be checking in here this week, so if there are those with questions, please post and I'll see if I could answer them.

Sorry, Indonesia does sensor some internet. Primarily sites they consider as porn, but often sites like reddit and such.

The internet speed at the hotel is very good, and vpns do work well.

It does vary by hotel. At the Doubletree, vpns don't work, and the speed is way slower.

Thanks, China censors internet but at the PH Shanghai they seem to bypass any censoring...was wondering if this is a Hyatt perk generally in countries where internet is censored or just a country-by-country individual situation.

Often GH and PH will have better internet. It's been very hit and miss with lower Hyatt's. I know the former HR BDO blocked vpns in January.

Yes it does. I was at this hotel recently and couldn't access fashionphile.com - a shopping site for second hand designer brands - that was censored.

Perhaps it's due to the word "phile" in the URL.

First time back here after several years... I used to remember this hotel fondly, but compared to the newer hotels in Jakarta, this really has gone downhill. It is looking old... mildew in the spa showers... hasn't aged well and its light brown colour scheme is badly in need of a refresh.

Service too has gone downhill... standard 'tactical' Indonesian service which shows overall lack of competence and initiative - "I'm happy to deal with whatever request that I can or am empowered to. But anything out of the ordinary, I'd just smile long enough and say it's not possible, and hope you'll drop the request so I don't have to deal with it."

Also it doesn't even provide the normal June Jacobs toiletries in the standard rooms - only the suites have that. Normal rooms have some nondescript detergent smelling brandless toiletries... and I thought June Jacobs are vile enough, these are worse.

Definitely my last stay here - ever.

Yes, there are a lot of service fails here in the last few years. Given it's price point, there are a lot of other options in Jakarta that are similar in quality, but perhaps in a less presigious area, and 40-50% cheaper.

Also, with the new Park Hyatt opening, I'd only think that it will go downhill.

As a newly minted Diamond this year, I was also very disappointed with this hotel for the above reasons. It wasn't a very good impression of Hyatt for sure! Glad others had the same feeling. Luckily I've had some good stays in other places but me too wouldn't go back to this one.

Jakarta hotel choice is all about location due to traffic.

Luckily for me our main customer moved and we now use Hotel Mulia. Fantastic hotel, easy to access from the airport and close to the toll roads.

indeed. used to stay at Mulia back in the day when not interested in hotel programmes. Great hotel with huge rooms. Good nightclub as well!

My choice for work is Mulia too... Beautiful artwork and fantastic range of restaurants.

For leisure, I would go to Dharmawangsa.

I just did a stay here on points/cash and I was more impressed than I expected to be. The food in the lounge is great-- sushi, salad, and enough hot plates to fill you up if you don't want to go out to dinner. Breakfast is great too. They also have very decent wines, and a small selection of liquors. The room they placed me in (18th floor) was spacious, clean, pleasantly designed and had a very nice bathroom with marble floors, a bathtub, and a shower. My favorite aspect of the hotel, though, is the pool-- there's a very large pool with cool garden pathways and plenty of places to lounge.

When everything is good, this is a nice hotel.

When there are cockroaches on your plate in the lounge, mediocre service, or similar it certainly degrades the experience.

Just saw a charge hit my credit card for this property from June, 2016. Almost a 10 month delay in charging the card?
