Qualifying with just 30 nights will only get you a version of globalist light , perhaps a concierge and one milestone at 30. No TSU’s. To achieve the TSU’s you would have to cross 50 and 60 nights

It won’t even get you a concierge. That’s 60+ nights. Although I find the Hyatt Twitter team to be more responsive and more helpful for most matters.

My understanding was that 15 nights with check-out date in December for example would only get 15 nights in 2021 (in addition to the 15 nights in 2020).

To be fair their are alot of deals on suites right now. I've booked suites a number of times already at 20% to 40% discounts to the normal rates. Its nice being a Globalist for the breakfast and potential upgrades but the guaranteed suite upgrades are the most valuable part of this program. You'll still have to hit all of the milestone rewards to get them so I'm fine with this move if it helps with Hyatt's bottom line in these trying times.

Not really because the bonus nights won’t credit until March... but if you do 30 nights and checkout Jan 01, then yes ... same same

Anyone remember what being a Gold Hilton H member was in 1999? Today a giant meh
It was a true elite experience back when with premium offerings even in an airport hotel.
Thankfully I've seen some Hyatt's do a great job even during a pandemic and others that drop the ball.like every chain.
Excessive dollar amount limits or sorry no toast or potatoes with that or other such example

I've found HPs that offer little or no breakfasts to be so ordered by their owner/management companies. Not something the individual managers are happy cutting. Housekeeping shortages/downgrades....same idea.
You do not need to pay a fortune teller to know how this story ends. And you're right about relationships with individual properties.

Can't say I'm surprised Hyatt did this. Every hotel owner I know with a mass-market big brand hotel or more doesn't foresee business returning to 2019 levels until 2022 at the earliest. And they are more than eager to see what can be done to run up the occupancy without rate cuts being used even more extremely.
