World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

This is simply not true. We can speculate on why they have decided to allow the card to be product changed to despite being forced to close the card to the public, but there is no question that Marriott, not Chase, is behind the Ritz Carlton card no longer accepting public applications.
Ummm.. it is quite obvious why Ritz is closed for Chase. They cannot get new applications for it because Amex has the full rights to the "luxury portfolio for credit cards" for Marriott. Chase has the full rights for the "regular credit card" portfolio for Marriott. That is why Amex personal bonvoy $95 af no longer exists.

Completely agree. Chase did not shut it down because it was “not worth it” for them or consumers. It was compulsory for them.

However, they must have negotiated a deal with Marriott to hold on to their existing Ritz customers. There must have been a loophole to allow $95 Bonvoy customers to product change after 12 months. I'm surprised that AmEx didn't try to obtain the Ritz cardholders.

Yeah, I thought about that a lot given a) Chase seems willing to sell these portfolios given recent rumors b) Amex is willing to buy these portfolios given what happened with Citi and Hilton

Ultimately though, I have to believe that Amex and Chase wouldn’t bother with this unless they were selling/buying the entire portfolio.

Also tbh, I find it highly unlikely Chase will ever create a new luxury hotel card for any partner (Hyatt, IHG, and obviously Marriott) given their credit card product strategy. I wish Amex took Hyatt and Chase took Hilton.

i think it was done this way because it was much easier to have them both retain their existing portfolios. chase keeps ritz. amex keeps personal bonvoy. So this may be a wash/trade. This way the customers were not being impacted.

It is also in Marriott’s best interest to have both players (Chase and Amex) in the system, and both offfering both luxury and regular tier cards (albeit in highly specific and limited circumstances). It gives them additional leverage with the credit card companies in the next round of negotiations in my view.

I would love for the Hyatt portfolio to be taken over by Amex. Alas, I can dream….

As a (earned) Hilton diamond be careful what you wish for.

I miss the citi card. Was only $95 a year and you received a free night with $10K in purchases. Someone could still get diamond with credit card spend but it required spending $40K not by just having a card that actually has a negative annual fee if you use the card.

When Am Ex told over for the citi card with their premium Am Ex they gave diamond status out for just having a $450 annual fee credit card that provides a lot more than that in benefits between the $250 resort fee credit, the $250 airline credit and the free night. Really diluted the diamond pool.

I would love for Citi to go back to managing the premium card. And Visa is accepted at a lot more places overseas than Am Ex.

I have 29 elite nights and was counting on 2 elite nights to post to my account upon statement closing on 7/27. Since my Hyatt Credit Card was automatically converted to a World of Hyatt Credit Card on 1/11/21, I have spent $10,900 on this card as of last statement closing. When I hit $5000 spend since that date in April 2021, I did receive 2 extra elite nights after statement closing. I have now spent another $5000 and some extra just to be safe and expected to receive another 2 elite nights when my points post to my Hyatt account. The points just posted today 7/28 at 3 PM PST (backdated to 7/27) but I still have 29 nights and my status is still currently showing up as Explorist. I booked a stay for this weekend and basically timed the booking so I'll be a Gobalist for this stay. I already checked every line on my statements and the only non-qualifying charge is the annual fee.

QUESTIONS:
1. Do the elite nights post at the same time as the points or is it possible that the postings will be staggered?
2. Any reason why I did not receive my 2 elite nights after double and triple checking that I did indeed spend $10k since my card was converted from Hyatt to World of Hyatt Credit Card?

in my experience the 2 elite night credits about 48-72 hours after your base point posts and it’s backdated to your base point posting date.

Thanks for the reply. My 2 elite nights posted less than 2 hours after my base points posted.

The current SUB is getting a little long in the tooth (not to mention it’s terrible) Anyone have any idea on whether there’s a new one in the pipeline and if there’s usually a day of the week they’re announced?

Your guess is as good as ours right now.

If you go by some of the dates in the wiki, SUB changes are not terribly frequent.

If Hyatt increases the annual free night certificates to Category 5 all my family members will renew their Hyatt credit cards. Otherwise I will advise them to cancel their cards. Mar Monte was the only good option to use a free night in California and now it’s gone.

I will keep my Hyatt card even if the free night is useless. That makes sense for me but not for family members whose travels are limited.
