World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I tried to burn a “free” night at the HP near the Silverton in Las Vegas tonight. $200-ish nightly rate for standard room, but no awards or certs accepted even though it shows up in the search when I look for awards.

If I can’t even count on being able to the “free” night at such a non-aspirational property, I don’t think it is worth keeping the card for me.

The award search function doesn’t limit results to just properties which have rooms available for standard rate points redemptions. It’s a little annoying for sure.

Im not familiar with this specific property, but I do generally find the Cat1-4 carts to be pretty easy to use and to get outsize value (much more than the cost of the annual card fee).

I end up using most of the category-capped free night certs from credit cards (IHG, Hyatt, Marriott) for trips where we visit family or friends where location is more important than luxury features. Unfortunately the limited foot print of Hyatt makes it harder to redeem those for me.

There is a second HP in Vegas that had similar room rates and I was able to redeem there. Unfortunately the location is less convenient for our needs, but no point in saving the cert for a future better opportunity when cat2 properties seem to block awards.

Hey does anyone know if you get the bonus points if you stay at an MGM property (like the Mirage) and pay for resort fees and incidentals with the card when you check out?

Any recent data points on when the annual free night posts? My annual fee was charged 7/1 but no certificate yet... in past years I recall it being much faster.

About six to eight weeks after the AF posts. People were getting the free night and then canceling for an AF refund.

I asked Chase recently & was told ten weeks, which has been the prevailing wisdom here for a while. I'm ~8 weeks past my anniversary & no FNC yet, so this tracks.

And yes, this is a change from past years.

Nope - better off using a Chase CSR/P

AAdamE, I would expect you would get the 8 pp$ for charging it to your Chase Hyatt Visa, because it is Hyatt spend. As a minimum you will get 5 pp$ for "Travel," same as at any non-Hyatt hotel--as long as you have not maxed out the $1500 limit.
Also, you will earn triple points (15 pp$ vs.5 pp$) on incidentals directly from Hyatt. Indeed, I just had a 2-night points-award stay at a Hyatt House with zero spend. Their computer incorrectly charged me a $20 RF, so the FDC issued a credit on my folio. It was reported to Hyatt as a payment rather than a reversal of the charge, because I actually got 320 points for the stay! 16 pp$ because I am an Explorist. Nothing was ever charged to my Visa.

Mine was about 8-9 weeks.

Your anniversary date they use is not the same as the date the AF posts, right? Asking because of the ability to earn a free night cert with $15k spend between anniversary and Dec 31 for those who got the forced product change from the legacy Hyatt card to the WoH card this year. (Could have also earned another if I spent $15k between change and anniversary, but in 4.5 months that wasn't happening.) My anniversary is early June but AF posted July 1. I'll need the June spend to reach $15k.

At least in the future it will be based on calendar year.

Getting Bonus/New Card Again

I want to take advantage of the new card offer/essentially the fast track to Globalist status after limited nights, but I already have the card (but earned the signup bonus more than 24 months ago). If I were to cancel today, how long would I need to wait before applying for the card again?

Generally with Chase you want to give it 30 days to purge it from the system. You can do this churn faster with Ultimate Rewards earning cards that have a downgrade path, but alas the Hyatt card doesn't have a downgrade option.

Question - if you get credits back to this CC (in my case, from some VAT refunds), does that reduce my "level/balance" of both ongoing spend (for $5K monthly) / annual spend (for the $15K FNA)...OR is it just seen as a form of payment?

If it was a direct "return" of sorts, I could see it as the former, but wondering if the VAT situation make it more of the latter (better for me obviously).

Thx.
