World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Thanks for the data point. Old card has been on auto-pay for years (they decide when and how much I pay). I'll go in there and pay it off right now, to see if that alters the story! Thanks again.

How long after you converted did the 5 elite nights post? I converted the card about two weeks ago, got new cards about one week ago, but still no elite nights or 2000 bonus points. Sound normal? No hurry, just want to know if I need to make a phone call. Thx!

I had a statement close with no bonus points for the conversion. But there was no annual fee on it either.

I'd guess that I need the next statement to close with the fee for me to get my 2k points.

Based on my experience and what I can gather from others, the 5 elite nights should post sometime a week or two after the conversion. I would wait another week before really worrying about it. On Hyatt.com and the app, the line item for the activity is very generic (just says "Reward bonus" and says nothing about elite qualifying credit, but the number of nights you have should go up by 5.) It would be easy to miss if you don't obsess about the changes in your account activity.

My 2,000 bonus points posted with my monthly statement for the month in which the conversion was performed (it is shown on the pts box on the statement as its own line item). I wouldn't expect anyone to experience otherwise.

You can always call, the problem is always that Hyatt says things could "take 4-6 weeks" to post and blow you off.

Actually, I didn't get charged the annual fee either, but I did get the bonus points. I did get a credit for the prorated annual fee for the last card too.

My statement had the following:

WORLD OF HYATT CREDIT CARD SUMMARY
+ Points transferred from other products 1,030 (this was the points earned under the old card rules after the last statement, prior to conversion)
+ 4X Bonus Points earned on Hyatt purchases 704
+ 2X Bonus Points at restaurants 0
+ 2X Bonus Points on airline purchases 0
+ 2X Bonus Points on Local Transit 4
+ 2X Bonus Points on Fitness Centers & Gyms 0
+ Bonus Points earned on everyday spend -53 (I had a return processed on an everday spend item
+ Additional bonus points earned 2,000 (the bonus)

Total pts transferred to World of Hyatt 3,685

Interesting. Maybe I'm not getting the 2K. My statement closed 7/6. Was yours after that?

My product switch was 7/5, my statement closed 7/20. Maybe your statement was too soon after the product switch??

That's what I'm thinking. But either way, the new product is so much better, if I lose 2k points on it, I'll still be fine. I hate to make waves with Chase unless it's pretty important.

Mark, just to be clear: did you product change, or did you cancel your legacy Hyatt CC (and wait a few days), then apply for the new World of Hyatt CC?

And for those who haven't gotten the 5 elite nights, I applied / was approved on 7/3, still no elite nights. Have talked to Chase via SM and Twitter, got same response "up to 8 weeks for the nights to post".

My product change was 6/28.
My 5 elite nights posted 6/29.

I still haven't hit a statement close date. I've spent about $8K on the card so far since the product change, but not bonus nights from spend yet.

After some effort, as you may see way upthread, I did a straight product change.

That is the same day I was approved and I did get an email from Chase stating that there had been a problem linking my account. They manually upgraded my account to Discoverist, but I just emailed them today about the 5 nights and they are investigating. So, a secure message to Chase may be in order. Hyatt doesn't seem to be able to rectify it on their end, but they were able to confirm that the credit card is not linked to my account.

Has anyone who had the old Hyatt CC that cancelled and opened the new card gotten their spend bonus yet? Approaching 1 mo so figuring some spenders have to have some experience now.

Also, I got my FN from my card anniversary in mid April. Haven't redeemed it yet. For those that are close to their anniversary date I can understand waiting til they get the anniversary night. For me, it makes no sense to wait 9 months to forgo the additional benefits. So, my questions are:

1. I presume that if I cancel the old card, the FN in my WOH account is still good and won't be taken away?
2. Will I get a prorated refund on my AF if I cancel? So if my AF was assessed in April, I presume I can get about 75% of that back?
3. Tips on closing my account: I am currently using my CC still pretty actively (staying at Hyatt's weekly). Say I stop spending maybe 1 week before statement close and pay the balance in advance of the statement close (so balance is $0 on last statement). Seems like I can close on statement date and maybe only wait 3-5 days?

Not sure if this link has already been posted, but it looks like you can upgrade and get your 2,000 points online:
