World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I still wish Hyatt would launch a luxury card as well as a business one. I'd sign up immediately.

I cancelled my SPG/Marriott luxury, business etc as the earning so low and of so little value. I still keep the regular Marriott one but barely use it (I actually use CSR when staying at Marriotts though haven't had a paid stay in over a year).

Id love a luxury one (I know many Globalist here don't want the dilution) but give me higher point earning than regular WOH card or category 8

I closed my WoH card a few weeks ago and I'm planning on applying for a new WoH card later this year if Chase comes up with a good offer, so we'll see if the sign up bonus on this card gets better.
If I do end up with a new WoH card though, does anybody know if I get additional 5 elite nights from having the card again after getting 5 nights back in January from the card I closed?
I haven't thought about this before and it just crossed my mind.

The WoH card has now moved to a calendar year of accruing benefit spend. My question is what happens in Q4 2021 and you have $2000 spend on Dec 31st, $3000 short of the 5K needed to get the benefit of 2 nights stay credit? Does the 2K of your Q4 spend count for 2022 or does the benefit clock reset on January 1st?

$15K spend for the free night for 2022 onward does go calendar year, that is true

There is NO change though for the $5K spend for 2 night sequence though

I’m not sure what a luxury card from Hyatt would even offer. The Marriott one doesn’t offer enhanced earnings.

I think they might want to get into the business card game first before adding the luxury card. The Marriott card doesn’t even eeem like a luxury, just a more expensive version with slightly better perks of the normal card.

Where can I find my spend since my anniversary date? My date is 12/14 and I had no spend between that date and the end of the year, and by my records, $12,900 spent in 2021. But on my Hyatt account, this month I see 2 free Cat 1-4 nts whereas I think I only had 1 before. Exp dates (probably extended already) show 12/31/21 and 1/27/22. Could the 2nd night be from my annual renewal from when the fee post and was paid?

Such an additional award night could be:

a milestone reward — one of those reached from hitting an additional ten night milestone toward status; or

a reward for doing ten nights from/during one of the recent promotions this year for those registered for the promotion; or

a credit card renewal award night

Current WoH Offer

Not sure what recent WoH offer is the best one. The current one is not that super great.

Up to 60,000 Bonus Points
30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. Plus, up to 30,000 More Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points total per $1 spent in the first 6 months from account opening on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 spent.

If you read it carefully, the second 30,000 bonus points are not really 30k bonus points. With $15k spending, you get 15k base points and 15k bonus points to a total of 30k points. So the bonus for the current offer is actually a 45k point offer. Then add the card earnings you would normally earn from this card.

There was a 50k bonus point offer with $6k spending. That 50k is true bonus offer.

Just received a mailing from Chase advising of the new, higher annual fee on my card, which was converted from the Hyatt legacy card to WoH in January.

Key takeaway: the new $95 fee takes effect on August 30. Lucky for me, as my AF anniversary was 7/1 & the lower $75 AF has already posted.

Sometimes the rumor mill gets it more or less right:

My anniversary falls in June, so in theory I’ll get 1.5 years after conversion before the higher fee kicks in.

Couple questions (and I tried doing a search).

I've had the Hyatt credit card since it first came out in 2012. I used to stay at Hyatt's a lot and was diamond for a few years.

I know Hyatt came out with a new credit card in 2018 where you get five nights credit and 2 nights for every $5k of spend. I'm looking on benefits page on chase and it doesn't mention this benefit but I can tell from looking at my hyatt account I received five additional nights. Do I need to call Chase and have the card upgraded? Or were all the cards automatically converted? I don't want to close out the card and apply for a new card since I just opened another new account with Chase.

I'm going to be staying with Hyatt's a lot more next year and would love to be Globalist again. Right now I'm explorist due to my Mlife status. Does the 50% reduction requiring 30 nights this year include the nights for credit card nights?

I have 12 nights already this year including the five from the credit card. I have four nights coming up which will bring it to 16. If I understand the program correctly if I charge $35K that will give me 14 nights which will give me Globalist? I have a couple big charges I can put on the card but don't want to put it on the Hyatt card if I can't get globalist. TIA

I believe your math skills are correct in this situation.

Just happened to me. I had quite a few nights and then some big spend. The "2 nights for $5K spend" post very quickly - my statement closes on the 8th of each month and the nights (and associated points) from the credit card post on the 9th each month.

Your account should have been converted to the newer World of Hyatt VISA in January. Pretty sure they did that to/for everyone. I also received a new physical card a while ago (end of May, based on when I updated the data in my password manager).

What card design do you see in your Chase app or web account?

I’m trying to envision what a Hyatt “luxury card” would look like. Maybe something like this:

$575 Annual Fee
80,000 Points SUB
1 Category 1-7 Certificate upon Renewal each year
1 Category 1-4 Certificate every $15,000 in spend (No limit on how many you can earn)
15 Elite Nights Per Year
$200 Hyatt “Credit” to cover hotel charges, parking fees, resort fees, spa services, etc.
Earn 2 Elite nights for every $5,000 in spending (same as basic card)
5x at Hyatt Hotels
3x at Restaurants
3x on Airfare, Uber, Local Transit, Rental Cars
2x at Gas Stations, Groceries, Gyms
1x Everywhere else
Admirals Club Access
Priority Pass
Global Entry
