Please note..
Tax & gratuity are included with the Diamond breakfast. We will be following up with the hotel to make sure this is corrected.
If anyone experiences this, please PM your reservation details to us, as we are happy to follow up with the properties.
Sincerely,
Nick B.

Can you tell us what percentage or dollar amount should be included?

I have had ~10 recent stays (at DIFFERENT hotels) and EVERY time I ask if tip is included. Have been told "NO!" every time. I tip-and sure enough-got charged.
Also-I was told at Hyatt Dallas that "eggs" would cost me $3, and the diamond is ONLY available for buffet.
SO-do I NOT put anything on the "tip" line?
Also-do I get my $3 back for the eggs??? (KIDDING)...but seriously..how do we handle the tip???

Well I have always wrote something in, and its almost always taken off at checkout, but I have gotten some random charges. I just checked my recept from HR Indy and for a $13.04 breakfast buffet, I got charged $.26, I belive I put $2.96 as tip, which put the percentage they would cover @ 20%
Since it seems like this is a popular topic for different hotels, I shall add this into my database im creating!

I sent PMs to GP Concierge and Jeff Zidell (VP of GP) about this thread; which seems to have prompted GP Concierge's post. Jeff said they were working to provide proper guidance to all hotels. So, either list the hotels here or send a PM to GP Concierge and/or J. Zidell to aid in this process.
Hyatt Regency Lexington (2 X $3.00 each) Tipped $3, billed $3
Hyatt Clearwater (Tipped $4, billed $4)
HR Sarasota (Tipped $4, billed $4)
Hyatt Dulles (Tipped $2, billed $2)
That is what I see in the past few weeks...
OT, but while they are at it (and sending me a check for $34
), PLEASE have them define WHAT is free! Sometimes I want french toast and a fruit bowl. I have been told MANY times 1-only buffet, or 2-a X max on food off the menu...and that is WAY less than an entree/fruit/coffee.Thanks for pushing this forward - I will cut you in for 10% of my recouped $$$

Oh-and I will take the $3 for the eggs!!!

I recently completed a stay at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables and I asked the server how the tip worked and she said that the hotel will pay something in the form of a gratuity but it is not a generous amount.
I guess she was trying to coax me into more gratuity and it worked because I left $5.00 bill each day as after the first day.

I dont think we need to complain so much about the tip issue. Some hotels cover some dont. Doesn't really matter. I dont want to complain about such things and then have hyatt decide its not worth it and take away the benefit altogether. That has happened in the past with Hyatt (i.e. giving extensions) and other chains.

Some Hyatt hotels that give out breakfast coupons to Diamonds have print on the coupon stating that gratuity is not included. Isn't the Hyatt Arlington in Virginia still one such property?
I have been usually tipping cash there for years when having breakfast on mattress run mornings.
