Does Diamond breakfast include tip ?
I stayed at the Hyatt Dulles last week. As my usual routine I tipped about 15% with the buffet breakfast (which was $20 base price) . I was surprised that Dulles made a point of including this gratuity on a separate line on my bill and passing it along to me. It's the only time this has happened (but I've only stayed at 5 other Hyatt's since becoming Diamond that had 'comped' breakfast but no club)
So is this a new policy? Or does Dulles simply go out of its way to chisel a few $ from Diamonds that treat their staff appropriately ?
(If it's a new policy, could certainly add up if you have 4 guests at a Park Hyatt breakfast)

The general policy is that you pay the tip when the breakfast is automatically deducted from the bill. Hotels that use paper coupons cover the gratuity. Since Hyatt Regency Reston and Hyatt Dulles switched from paper coupons, the guests have had to paid the tip.

I think this is property specific. Andaz 5th Ave NY said tip was included but it surely wasn't at Hyatt Santa Rosa. I always ask as it is important to me to tip appropriately if that is not already included.

Okay, of the other 5 properties, I can remember one or two vouchers, the others were signed to the room, I tipped, and both the food and gratuity were deducted

Per the HGP terms and conditions, your benefit includes free breakfast, tax, and tip at full-service Hyatt properties:
That means when you dine, all charges are taken care of. When the check arrives and there is a space for gratuity, that is there for you to specify any amount over and above the normal gratuity that HGP is paying, which will be added to your folio.
In most cases, I simply write "included" on the tip line and sign my name. For cases where I do tip (on breakfast-included rates like AAA), the tip amount shows up on my folio as a separate line item.
5. In Hyatt hotels that do not have a Regency Club or Grand Club lounge, daily complimentary full breakfast (tax and gratuity included) will be provided to the member and each guest registered in the room, maximum four (4) people. For stays at Hyatt Regency Bethesda, daily continental breakfast (tax and gratuity included) will be provided to the member and each guest registered in the room, maximum four (4) people.

I've found it to be property specific.
The Hyatt Regency DFW seems to take the middle road.
They allow $1.50 for the tip. Anything over that amount is charged to your room. Noticed it on my 1st stay when I tipped $3 and had $1.50 added to my bill.
On my 2nd stay, I tipped $2 and sure enough, 50 cents was added to my bill. The funny thing about it is that I was on a pre-paid rate and the tip was the only "incidental". Yes, they submitted a 50 cent charge to my credit card
I asked (even thought I already knew the answer) since it was so obvious a silly charge and was told it was the "excess" tip amount.
Do or don't, it's such an insignificant amount that I don't care either way.

I left a tip on the receipt, which showed up as a line item on the bill and they removed the entire charge including the tip I had left. I wish Hyatt makes this more clear to us as well as the hotel. I definitely believe the hard working wait staff should get a tip but at the same time, i am not crazy about double-tipping, especially when I got for the buffet and their only task is bring me a cup of coffee.

Asked at the PH Washington DC and was told, after the meal, that it was included. Still I felt good leaving a few bucks - who knows if the servers actually get anything and I always feel I'm getting a very good deal.

Can we stick to the legitimate topic, or does this have to turn into another thread where people are compelled to tell everyone how good they feel to pad the pockets of table servers? It's been all over the map for me and I do not like asking the server if gratutity is included.

Hyatt Regency DFW - always adds the tip to my bill; half the time they even add the breakfast charge to my bill, even though I am a Diamond;
Grand Hyatt DFW - never adds the tip to my bill; it lets Diamonds to order room service as a choice for the complimentary breakfast.

While it seems like most experiences post here have been all over the map, doesn't post #6 put the debate to bed?
According to the T&C, the tip should be included. If that is not the case, shouldn't management be made aware of the HGP rules?
