How recent does the stay activity need to be with status? I have Hilton Gold, but haven't had any stay activity this calendar year (but have an upcoming stay at Hilton 4/30-5/3). Does it need to be within the calendar year?

Also, so it's confirmed that the challenge will continue May 1, and that if the challenge is started May 1 or later and completed that we'd receive diamond through 2/2016?

I have enough planned nights in May/June that would allow me to complete the challenge, but I'm on the fence as to whether to start before 4/30 vs 5/1 just because I'm uncertain about what's happening after 5/1.

I did not have any recent past Hilton stays but I did -- like you -- have one upcoming. I took a screen shot of my Hilton Gold page to show both status and this upcoming stay. I was approved for Hyatt Diamond Challenge immediately.

It seems that it will be preferable to start the Challenge in June (rather than May) as some members suggested in earlier post?

Everything points towards the offer being extended, but nothing has been confirmed yet. I sent an inquiry to HGP yesterday (as I am Hilton Gold, and plan to do the challenge in early May if it's offered) and they provided the following response (in short, they clearly state an offer past 4/30 has not been confirmed, and that you need at least 1 stay with a competitor in the last 12 months):

Regarding your inquiry, currently a Diamond Trial Offer is available. You will receive trial Diamond membership for 60 days with proof of top tier status with one of our competitor programs. However, you must complete 12 nights in 60 days to maintain Diamond membership through February of 2015. You will also receive 1,000 bonus points on your first six eligible nights within 60 days, up to a maximum of 6,000 bonus points. Please be aware that the earning period for the promotion begins at the time of enrollment.

Please note the list of competitors that Hyatt Gold Passport will match:

Hilton Gold VIP or Hilton Diamond VIP
Marriott Gold or Marriott Platinum
Starwood Platinum Preferred Guest
Priority Club Platinum

Please note, the competitor statement must indicate your name, tier status and at least one stay in the last 12 months.

Please email a statement of your membership activity with a competitor to us for processing.

To find more details on our exclusive Diamond membership, please visit us online at:

http://goldpassport.hyatt.com/gp/ben...ip_diamond.jsp

Please note that the current Diamond Trial Offer can be availed till Wednesday, 30 April 2014 and you may choose any day before this to enroll for the offer. We may have another offer available later in the year, which is tentative and cannot be confirmed at this time.

I appreciate your support of Hyatt and the Gold Passport program. Please let me know if I may assist you further.

Best Regards,

I'll try to restate whats already been posted:

IF Hyatt extends the offer beyond 4/30 (this is yet to be confirmed), and IF you start and complete the challenge post 4/30; you will receive Diamond status through Feb 28, 2016.

Furthermore, you will receive 4 DSU's upon starting the challenge in 2014, and receive another set of 4 in 2015.

Dang, such is the dilemma that I face. Any chance that if I start the challenge now or before 4/30 that they'll allow me to change to the new challenge if offered 5/1? Is there any precedence on previous diamond challenges for this? Looks like they've usually started 6/1 in the past, which would make it difficult for me to achieve since I have a majority of my nights (7-8) in May and only 5 in June.

Sounds like I should just go for what's already written in the terms and request the challenge before the 4/30 date, but the extra year of Diamond (IF available 5/1) is just so enticing! Thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Not sure as of today. I just do not want to complete the challenge, and then not be able to get the 50 nights by the end of the year for 2015 status. I should be able to mattress run between Hyatts switching nightly since I am anticipating about 35 nights for the rest of this year. Currently am leaning this way since starting next week till June 6th will be my heavy travel period. Do not want to miss out.

More accurately:

Furthermore, you will receive 4 DSU's upon starting the challenge in 2014, and if you successfully complete the challenge, you will receive another set of 4 in 2015.

Correct. Although I prefaced the sentence you chose to quote by stating "and IF you start and complete the challenge post 4/30".

As you wrote that in a separate paragraph, it is unclear whether the conditions you previously set were reset. Better to just keep all of that text in the same paragraph to avoid confusion.

Am I correct in assuming that I can choose any particular day in the month to start 60 day challenge? And if I start the challenge in May the Diamond status will be valid until February 2016?

That's my understanding at this point. I messaged the gold passport concierge and was told that that was the case. This was, however, assuming that Hyatt's diamond challenge terms stay the same after 4/30. Crossing my fingers...

I just talked to the GP rep on the phone and did not know if the next offer would be May 1st or June 1st at this point.
