When I started my challenge a few months ago I specifically asked about this.... But never got a decent reply.

If this proves to be correct my motivation to get to 50 nights this year would be quite a bit less. I won't make the 25 stays but could get to 50 nights if I extended my stays a little.

It would be especially bad since people that start the trail now will get Diamond status untill feb 2014.

Used the diamond line for the first time just now. I must say, they were a pleasure to talk to. They helped us change 2 reservations (somewhat complicated) and book a new one, and it was a total breeze. I could get used to this diamond status

Did I miss something?
Was your 25 stays all in 2012? If so, your status should be through 2/2014 which is standard without a Diamond Challenge.

If you want to clarify, perhaps PM our Gold Passport Concierge.

I've glanced through many pages of this thread and noticed that the 4 suite upgrades only apply to paid stays. Are there any exceptions to this rule? If i already have 3 nights booked on points/free night certs, would doing a status match prior to my stay increase my chance of being upgraded upon checkin? I'm looking to get into a suite at the Hyatt in Aruba the first week of January. (I would do a status trial sometime in December to my PC Platinum)

Thanks!

Suite upgrades are valid on paid rates only. To guarantee a suite, you would have to pay additional GP points.

You would be upgraded to the best (non-suite) room available at arrival most likely. On an award stay, you would have access to the Regency Club or Grand Club (if applicable) and free internet access. That's about it for Diamond members.

I think that depends entirely on what you plan on doing with it between now and February 2014.

I don't have any plans right now, but may take one or two vacation. I am thinking of combing diamond challenge with ongoing miles promotion.

Does anyone know hoe to find lower prices for mattress run.

Thanks

Hyatt announced another 48h sale for hotels in the U.S., Canada, and Caribbean. Bookable through 11:59 PM CDT July 25, 2012.

www.hyatt48hoursale.com

For a limited time, simply book a participating Hyatt hotel or resort using offer code C48JUL beginning July 24, 2012 and save up to 30% on a family vacation, romantic getaway, or just a holiday for you.

Offers and stay dates vary by participating hotel.

Actually the eligible dates for booking are "for travel between Wednesday August 1, 2012 and Wednesday November 7, 2012".

if you show activity (hotel stays) and platinum status, they will most likely match you, IMO. never hurts to try.. I probably wouldn't tell them that you got the platinum status through a challenge, though

BTW, I was able to successfully enroll in Diamond status challenge without having 10 stays/30 nights in competing chain as was indicated in the thread/blogs, so that might depend on the actual CS agent.

I think you are referring to a diamond trial. That one you have to show your stay records and your status will become diamond once you are enrolled.

A challenge one doesn't get you a diamond status till you reach 12 nights in 60 days.

Right, what I meant is that there were reports on the internet that if you didn't have enough activity with competitor chain, they would even refuse the diamond trial altogether. The rumored requirement was 10 stays/30 nights with competitor.
