They really should fire the idiots running the website. Even the United.bomb is more reliable nowadays that Hyatt.com.
Using Internet Exploder the main page opens up when trying to check out rates: Service Temporarily Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later. Why is the website so bad? |
And now it seems to be totally down.

I am also using FF 3.6.12 on my mac. Hyatt.com is now working for me, although the response time is a bit slow..
Bill, any idea why you are having so many website issues? I really appreciate what an inconvenience this is to everyone and I'm even more upset than you are when this happens. |

Bill,
sorry to add to your list, but I am currently unable to update my profile. Keep getting a 'Please enter a valid phone number' message, even though I have entered it in exactly the format given as a sample ('44' in the country code box, then '123 456 1234' in the number box.) :td: |

Bill from E-Commerce here. This appears to be a bug. I've reported it to the development team to take a look at. Sorry for the problem thc - we'll get this fixed.

Bill from E-Commerce here. What we believe is happening with the web site is that unauthorized robots are coming into the site and spidering our special offers and hotel listings. The major robots are thoughtful and spread their traffic out over time. These problematic robots seem to be coming in and just hammer us over a very short period of time doing complex queries. One specific robot consumed >25% of the entire system resources. We've been shutting them off and flagging more pages as off limits for robots (a suggestion to them only). We're also working to add more capacity and modify the code to be more efficient in response to the queries giving putting the high load on the system.

I <heart> Hyatt, but I loathe the website. :(
It's down again. Very frustrating when you want to book hotels directly instead of using another site. Keep getting Sorry, we're experiencing technical difficulties and were unable to complete your request. Been doing it all evening. Grrrrrrr! But, I still <heart> Hyatt! :D |
Website down tonight too.

Bill from E-Commerce here. Just heard back from development. It turns out that the phone number country code validation is tied to the country (e.g., if you set your country to Germany, you'll be able to enter the German country code). This seems odd and the right operation would be for you to enter any phone number you want regardless of your address. We'll add this as an enhancement request.
My country is set to the UK, and I'm using 44 as the country code. What you describe isn't my problem. Sadly, I can't replicate my problem right now because goldpassport.com is kicking me out all the time... sigh. |
And now we have tonight's error!

Hi Bill, in another thread we're discussing a problem that I thought would be worth pointing out: once a suite upgrade has been applied to a room reservation, your website doesn't necessarily display the reservation correctly anymore:
- I had a case recently where a prepaid room reservation no longer appeared as prepaid (it appeared to have switched to a cancel by 3 pm 24 hrs rate, but the hotel still had the prepaid deposit on file, so it ultimately worked out okay) - others see no record of the actual suite upgrade having been applied, i.e., the room still shows as a standard room. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...ervations.html |
site was down and then up
over the holiday weekend in the us, i was trying to line up some future stays but the site was down (understandable if it was a good time for maintenance) and then up and then down.
i hope i can express this without rancor, but G bonus is now something i telephone to ask about because i don;t even know where to start with the new layout. also, having just achieved diamond, i was looking forward to seeing the familiar easy to navigate pages once i logged in to learn more about special offers, rewards or bonus opportunities, if any, but instead of a full screen, my personal info just appears in the corner of the larger hyatt page as sort of a popup box...it has the effect of making me spend far less time lingering over "hyatt" and planning stays, and instead makes me want to just leave the site immediately. this is too bad, but not sure how to report that in an unopinionated way or without rancor. still very pro-hyatt, but feel this just amounts to job security for the folks who answer the phones, and as a user feels like a step backwards to me. again, no rancor intended, just some feedback. |
