Is there an AXON award for cat. 7 hotels?
Is there an AXON award for cat. 7 hotels? Or any other reduced point redermtion code for less than the 50,000/night for cat 7 hotels? We have diamond status if that matters...

Yes, and it is still the same 145k points for 4 nights as when the Cat 7 hotels were Cat 6's. The Cat 6 AXON (old Cat 5) is 125k points. You can find this on the AMEX website after logging in.

If you look at the "Benefits" on AMEX, it makes no reference to Cat 7 and it does reference "opportunity" category. This tells me that it has not been updated to reflect the new structure.

You can only book the AXON awards via hhonors call center, not online. AXON6 = Cat 7 hotels @ 145K; AXON5 = Cat 6 hotels @ 125K.
The AXON5 used to be good for Cat5. Prb still is. But it is not a good use of points since HHonors has priced GLON for 4 nights at Cat 5 at 120K.

I was able to book 2 rooms the Bentley at Miami Beach, Cat 7, 4 nights for 145k per room; 36k per night for a $500/700 room (right after Christmas)). I will always advise staying 4 nights at an expensive hotel on a AXON is a great use of points; tough to beat .015+ per point.

Parenthetically, I am amazed so few with Internet access seem to know about Advanced Search on FlyerTalk or even Google... /Snark off
Link to current thread AXON Hilton HHonors Award Questions and Information: The Definitive Thread
This post compares cost effectiveness AXON with VIP Awards.
Link to Hilton HHonors Surpass Card from American Express page (but the Hilton HHonors no-fee AMEX card can also be used for AXON according to that thread, where I hope this will soon be merged).
Link to Benefits Guide for above
which, in part, states:
"Redeem for Less as a Cardmember
As a valued Hilton HHonors Surpass Cardmember, you can
receive four Hilton HHonors reward nights at any Category 5 (now 6 or below)
hotel for 125,000 HHonors points or at any Category 6 (now Cat 7)
hotel for 145,000 HHonors points. This special savings of
15,000 points per category is an exclusive benefit to Hilton
HHonors Cardmembers. To redeem for this reward, please
call 1-800-920-5649 and provide Reward Codes AXON5
(Category 5) or AXON6 (Category 6)."
This information has not been revised, but the basics are accurate - AXON is a good deal, it must be booked by calling (it can not be booked online). The actual AXON costs are listed by divemistressofthedark as:

Of interest to some, possibly - just now I saw on my Amex Surpass home page, a message regarding booking of Cats 5 - 7 under AXON with the new point values.
It's not copy-paste-able (tho I can post a screen shot if needed), so I'll transcribe:
"With your Surpass card, receive four HHonors reward nights at Cat 5, 6, 7 hotels at a special discount for cardholders.
4 nights at
* Cat 5 for 125,000 HH
* Cat 6 for 125,000 HH
* Cat 7 for 145,000 HH
Call 1-800-920-5649 and mention promo code AXON6 (Cats 5 and 6) or code AXON7 (Cat 7) to redeem for less today."

Can you use an AXON for two rooms for two nights or does it have to be four nights?
Since I'm constantly impressed by how Flyertalk members are usually faster and more accurate in their replies than HHonors customer service, here's my question:
I need two rooms for two nights at a Cat 7 hotel. Am I able to use AXON for this, or do they only work for one room for four nights?
Thanks in advance
Yaromac.

Yaromac, officially NO, the rules don't allow 2x2, but U can speak to the manager of that hotel to ask for that favor.

I was told today by an Hhonors rep that the AXON reward no longer exists and all the codes ended in January 2010.
Any advice/hints/tips?

AXON6N: Cat 5 or 6 - 125,000 points for 4 nights
AXON7N: Cat 7 - 145,000 points for 4 nights
This may be the source of the CSA's confusion. I recently booked an AXON7N through the Diamond Desk with no problems.
