Here is what appears to be a list of participating properties

No Conrads are listed, whether in HKG or elsewhere.

My offer of Dec. 4 [above] still applies. Am happy to join and pass on to a FT member all of the 6 transferable 50% discount certs to use for the Diamond Club rate, plus the 2 u/g to executive floor vouchers. Any FT'er can email and let me know what they think is a fair gift exchange.

I asked at the front desk of the SIN Hilton today for details of the Diamond Club as it applied to Hilton in SIN.

The clerk was friendly and willing, but not much help in terms of details. She gave me an email address for further inquiries: Ms Jaimie Ton, [email protected]

I guess I'll follow up since, while I like the Conrad, the Hilton is closer to 7 Eleven, which is a fine source of Tiger Beer.

Sheraton Singapore vs. Hilton Singapore - report

I was going to stay two nights in Singapore, so I planned to stay one night in Sheraton and one in Hilton, our corporate has company rates in both. I was expecting a nice upgrade in Sheraton, so I thought I maybe cancel my reservation at Hilton and stay also second night at Sheraton. Well, here what happened. I am Hilton Diamond and Starwood Platinum.

I arrived around 6 p.m. to Sheraton after returning from China. At check in I was told that they have no suites available, neither any special rooms. So I was given a really small normal room. I went to check the room and it was really small one. For some reason I did not believe that they have no suites, so I was mean and called to the reservations of the hotel with my cellular phone.

I asked what kind of suites they have available for same day arrivals for one night. She told they have a junior suite (and rate for that) and also a royal (a big one) suite available and if I would like to book one. I said I call later and returned to check in and asked to talk to the manager in duty. He came later, but told me that no junior suites are available and that the reservation clerk has to have done a mistake (yeh, sure). I was also told that they do not upgrade any Platinums to Royal suite. He told that they do not give any breakfasts to Platinums, not even if no suites are available, neither do they give towers benefits for Platinum members, no mineral water, no fruit plates (no no no). SO only thing they gave this time to Platinum member was the welcome gift, a belt used for luggage (I would never need that).

So as a summary from Sheraton, as a Platinum member a luggage belt and normal room.

I arrived around 6 pm to Hilton after a working day. Someone from check in took me to executive lounge for check in. All papers were ready, as well as key. They even remembered my name. I was escorted by one girl from executive lounge to my room, or actually not a room, I was given a executive suite, a really nice suite with separate bedroom and living room.

Including to the benefits was also breakfast in executive lounge, two bottles of mineral water, a big plate of fruits and other plate with different chocolates, free gym access, free one suit pressing. Rooms in executive floor are great but this suite was even better. Really nice, this was second time I was upgraded to a executive suite. I discussed later with room division manager (really nice person) and he told that they try to take good care of Diamond customers.

Summary from Hilton: Executive suite, free breakfast, free pressing of one suite, free mineral water, free plate of fruits.

I guess I do not have to say, where I am going to return. My rate was 165 SGD for both hotels.

Evidently, this requires that you sign up first (giving personal information) to obtain a username and password. Might be worth it for the discounts, of which there are several (all in Singapore, of course).

The big irritant in the information you're asked to give is passport number that, along with your name, appears on the personalized discount vouchers for the hotel, attractions, etc.

I just put in a string of the same number as the passport number, not feeling any obligation to give out such personal identifying information to such a service.

1. clean - yes, very nice.
2. Location - Orchard Road has lots of shopping and restaurants and stuff for the day and evening. Late at night the prostitutes can be quite an annoyance if you don't want to be bothered. Arriving at the hotel about 12:45 AM and wanting to take a walk after the interminable flight time I just wanted some air and the women swarmed around me up and down the street.
3. Room Size - I liked it, comfortable and beautiful furnishings.
4.Gym was fine and the highlight of the hotel in my opinion is the rooftop pool. I have fond memories of the deep pool and cool water in the humid climate of Singapore.

Except for the wonderful pool I preferred the Conrad International which was only about $15 more when I was there last year.

Has anybody used a "bogus" passport number, and had no problems at check-in when they look at your passport? I also don't like giving out that kind of information, especially if it ends up printed on vouchers. However, this may be a moot point, since I noticed that on my SIN run on UA last weekend my passport info was printed on the boarding passes ...
