Just saw on the app, the mandarin Orchard hotel is showing up as Hilton Singapore Orchard. So confusing, when the current one is called Hilton Singapore.

Too bad, could have easily been converted to a Doubletree and let the Hilton profile in Singapore grow. I guess as a Voco, they would need a grand refurbishment to bring it to standard.

Cheers!

Interesting idea. Would of allowed for 3 tiers of Hiltons in a major city. Perhaps it was considered but the financial incentives were not high enough for the franchisee to take that option.

I really liked this Hilton, especially the balcony rooms on the Executive Floor. The location was great and the staff at the EL were wonderful. If it gets rebranded to IHG, I will probably still stay there.

Isn't there already 3 tiers in Singapore : Conrad, Hilton and Garden Inn ? I'm guessing Hilton did not want to saturate the market ?

There's a larger Hilton being renovated nearby.

I doubt that has much to do with it, there are lots of cities with multiple Hilton brands and some with several properties under the same brand. I'm guessing this was a case of the property owner seeing better returns under the IHG flag.

Not right now of course, but I think there is probably scope for several more Hilton brands in SG without it being "too much".

Hi,

Shame about it moving to IHG. Loved the lounge and the staff there on my one and only visit there ( Jul 19)

Due to covid probably will not be able to go to Singapore before it changes.

The owner is not Hilton or IHG. The owner is an independent company and IHG will be managing the property for the owner.
