I had no idea they could see my points balance upon check in. I've been hovering around 800K for about a year.

They have a whole dossier on you, including complaints and compensation. I don't know if it shows up automatically, or they have to look it up, but it's there.

They’ve been known to close the accounts of those who the see as serial complainers. I recall seeing a letter, maybe on here, saying the it was clear that Hilton weren’t able to reach the standards they were expecting and they were closing their account, and suggesting they take their business elsewhere.
Quite how much one would need to complain to get to that point is unknown to me. |

I've just recently found out about lifetime diamond and have a few questions (couldn't find answers with a quick search here)
1. Can some of the 10 years diamond requirement be met with status received as a credit card benefit? 2. Is there a way to find out my total nights and base points? Thanks in advance! For 1.:

Both Diamond status earned through either Surpass/Ascend spend or Aspire yearly count toward the 10 years required for Lifetime Diamond.

Is there a way to find out how close you are to LT Diamond, other than calling? I vaguely recall an earlier thread that said Hilton was planning on adding that info to their web site but if it’s there I can’t find it.

No, not yet. Only option currently is to call.

There is no question that in any business there are people who the company cannot satisfy and feel those consumers just need to take their business elsewhere, both from a profitability point and a mental health point. As a manufactures rep, the company I rep will say that is the end of our involvement ( and we have a reputation in the industry for outstanding customer service ) and the retailer can make the choice to continue attempting to satisfy the consumer or not. In most cases, the retailer tells the consumer to move on.

Thread drift. Many of these recent posts have nothing at all to do with LTD.

Hotels Recognizing LTD
The Aruba Hilton currently recognizes Lifetime Diamond with a welcome gift and free full breakfast (Gold and not-yet-lifetime Diamond can upgrade from continental to full for $8/person).

I just crossed the 1,000 night threshold (with 16 years as Diamond) during current stay at a property in Europe. Prior to arrival, I was upgraded to a junior suite on an 11 night stay (significantly more space).
Had some interaction with the GM in the EL a couple of nights before and on the evening after crossing that magic number, I had a nice bottle of local wine and some other goodies. It was not expected, but a very nice gesture. I don't know how long it will take to be in the system officially, and I don't know if this particular property recongizes LTD on a regular basis, but I'll be back next month and will see. All in all a great experience! |

Most Hilton properties I stay frequently ask me every time if it is my first stay with them……so I assume they don‘t have that detailed data. |
Once you achieve lifetime status, it frees you to explore other hotels including far superior hotels in Europe.
It is a moment of liberation. |

For better or worse the one property that I return to regularly enough to benchmark multi-stay recognition also can't be bothered to do things like fix the digital key for the back/side doors (stopped working about 2.5-3 years ago, mention it on every stay and survey, FDA is always "we'll tell maintenance about it", surveys just go off into a void), offer dry cleaning service, dining, etc. So I wouldn't use them as a yardstick to set brand standard compliance expectations)... (I really need the find a new property for all of my Richmond visits but this HGI is just too...passable...and the other Hilton/IHG properties in the immediate area are owned by the same group so I expect no better and at one have gotten far worse if I were to spread my wings) |
