I see many hotels offering standard rooms for the number of points that is lower that the low season before the changes, for example, Conrad St James in London that was 70K in low season and now offers rooms at 66K points for some dates. There are other examples as well. So, there is definitely a differentiation, maybe, not based on a particular season but there are some good deals for standard rooms.
Standard rooms are priced pegged to the actual $ amount (with 0.005 pt/$ ratio) until the maximum (which is the old high season maximal).
So if the standard room is cheap, it would cost less points.
If the standard room is expensive, it would cost more points and the price will be capped at the old high season maximum.
In other words:
If Price in $ / 0.005 < Max high season then Price in Points = Price in $ / 0.005, else Price in Points = Max high Season

The one thing I'm curious about but did not tried yet is what would happen with the dynamic pricing (i.e., less than the maximum) varies in different days combined with the 5 day free.
Interesting to see what would be the pricing algorithm there.

I found a hotel that the rate varies wildly from day to day ($160 to $320) within 5 days. It seems that the point for standard room is very close to the cash total for 5 nights * 0.005 * 0.80 (5th night free). And if that number is over the max points high season for that hotel x 4, it drops to exactly max x 4.

Another data point to add... from my last personal trip, redeemed the following:
Hilton Garden Inn Bali Ngurah Rai Airport:
In January 2017 - 5,000 points/night (category 1)
Now - 13,000 points/night (lowest I found)
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur
In February 2017 - 10,000 points/night (category 2)
Now - 22,000 points/night (lowest I found)
Admittedly, these were fantastic values as category 1/2 hotels, but this represents more than a 50% devaluation in point value. Very disappointing!
On the bright side, this devaluation makes the airline miles exchange rates seem more reasonable, by comparison.

DT KL was my go to redemption for five nights. Now I'll look elsewhere. None of my future awards have gone down. None.

By the way, the rate is like $42 a night advanced purchase (before taxes). The refundable Honors member rate is $62 a night including taxes. So the value per point (using 15K a night) is 0.41 cents including taxes using the premium room rate which is in line with other properties these days for "premium" rooms. Not saying it's fair, just saying it's what Hilton is doing these days.

You are checking via flexible dates. It is glitched, as was already said in this thread.
Just check it day by day - all 5K and 10K rates are there.

I can get the system to show me 5000 on the splash page but when I click through, I only see 15,000 min for the deluxe room as a premium award. What dates did you get 5000 points for?

Just before this news dropped, I fortunately booked five nights at the Hilton Barbados for 200,000 points (50,000 points per night with the fifth night free)... today that same stay would cost me significantly more with a varied amount of points each night.
Night 1: 63,000
Night 2: 70,000
Night 3: 63,000
Night 4: 63,000
Night 5: 46,000
If you consider the fifth night free, this stay would cost me 259,000 points today, which is an increase of 59,000 points over what I paid last week.

In this case you must check the "Show Accessible Rooms" box, cause sadly only this type of room has left for that day as a standart reward. I see it for 12 Sep at HGI Bali for example.
It's ok to book it, IMO. Just tell the hotel that you need. If they declined to change/upgrade the room you can always cancel your reservation.

Conrad London St. James went from 32,000 + £116 to 32,000 + £307.68!
Not happy. I had it booked fully on points and wanted to change it to P&M. I tried to change it the day the change was announced (back in Jan) but before it was implemented but they had removed all P&M options. I called in and was told they had suspended P&M bookings until the new rates were in place so they would not allow me to book the 32k + £116 even though I was fully 1 month+ before the changes, and still 9 months prior to my stay. Poor service all around.
