The Executive Lounge has been faultless all week and staff are the best.
Special mention to Buta who has been very attentive.

Also for anyone who is interested some rooms have been newly renovated and room colour has changed from Mustard / Gold to Grey.

Hi,
Would like some thoughts.

Spouse and 3 kids will be staying at the Conrad HK for 3 nights next month. kids are 7, 6 and 2.5.

we have enough points to book a twin/king suite (mountain) for the 3 nights. the total points is slightly more than if 2 separate rooms are booked. so we can book a suite or two rooms.

any suggestions on whether we would be better off booking two rooms or the one suite? we have never stayed in a suite before so don't know how big it is and whether a rollerbed would be ok (cost). we stayed several times before with two twin beds (which was tight) and just a king bed may be tight as well.

appreciate any comments.

In my opinion you would be better with 2 interconnecting rooms a King to a twin.

The suites are nice but the Lounge is smaller than the bedroom. The lounge has 2 sofas and a large coffee table which takes up a lot of space.

I do not think the lounge sofas are actual sofa beds although I may be wrong and best to check with hotel but if not with rollaways in the lounge you would not be able to move.

I don't think they are sofabeds, but the rollaways are very good quality.
Just made me stop and think where our bears are...

I would second this. We stayed here as a family of six and booked a king and a twin. They upgraded us to connecting corner king suite and twin room and added the two extra rollaways. I can confirm that the sofas are not sofa beds.

We arrived early yesterday morning and while checking in they said our room (harbor view) on a top floor would be ready in an hour. I simply stated that if at all possible, are there any suites available?

They did a quick check, and told us that those would not be ready until later in the afternoon due to occupancy and late checkout requests. Told them, that was fine, and that we already had contingency plans for the morning and afternoon. So off to breakfast we went (escorted, of course )..

Afterwards we went up to the lounge so my wife could quickly freshen up before we hit the town for a bit. We had our bags with us, and when we were about to leave downstairs to drop them off for holding, the EL front desk person (name withheld, I know who she is ) told us to just leave them with her, and she would have a temporary "refreshment" room available to us before the suite was ready where we could take a shower and nap!

Sure enough, upon returning from our excursion (which included lunch as Kam's Roast Goose, highly recommend), the temp room was ready and our bags had be deposited there as well. All I can say is that was a fantastic start to our 5 night stay!

There are more Habours than Peaks, more Kings than Doubles, so excluding the two ultra suite categories, you're probably aiming for a Harbour and ideally a King.

They are fairly generous with upgrades for Diamonds, from personal experience and judging from comments upthread. In 20+ visits I've always had at least a one step upgrade, and Diamonds are more usually looking at 2, 3 or 4 steps on the whole. In other words you're unlikely to go from a Harbour to a Peak. Having said that I've only once got a suite, albeit from normally booking the entry level room types - the number of suites is quite low compared to the scope for low to high floor upgrades (which is what Executive effectively means). Also the Harbour rooms near the centre of the building (by the lifts) have the better view after about floor 50 compared to the suites, so that may be Plan B. Ask to check in for your room in the Executive Lounge itself, in my experience they do try very hard to get an outcome that you would be happy with in the Lounge whereas on the lobby floor the staff are in a bit more of a rush to complete the transaction.

Agree entirely about checking in at the EL. I have probably stayed here 100 times and have been upgraded to a suite 3/4 times, all done on floor 59!

I'll be losing Diamond status soon, but would love to continue to have EL access. I don't think I've ever stayed here as a Gold.

Assuming the hotel is not super-busy, what does it take to have a good shot at an upgrade to Exec floor?
Is it a 1-category upgrade as Gold, meaning I'd have to book a standard Harbor-view room?
Any Gold out there ever book lowest category room (eg, standard mountain view) and still got Exec floor upgrade?

IMO the Conrad has a better location (don't like GH location at all) and they will let you eat breakfast in the restaurant (GH will not). Lounge is much bigger and physically impressive at GH. Both lounges have great views (except you're right above a massive construction project at GH). Rooms are more modern at GH, though Conrad's are large and comfortable. GH also has a better pool, but that's not so relevant this time of year.

They are both good properties. Location and no restaurant breakfast are biggest negatives for GH IMO.

App Showed Executive Harbour Suite the day before, at checkin, LTD recognised which surprised me. I didn't think they could see it.

Loved the chocolate box!
