My experience:

Within the US: Within 48 Hours
International: Weeks, sometimes more

sailxx Mar 20, 2007 11:59 pm

it usually posts to my account less than 48 hours for my hilton and hilton garden inn stays, doubletree usually takes less than 72 hours.

International: 7 to 10 days

Depends on the property

In my experience:

Embassy within 3 days
HGI within 3 days
Hampton sometimes takes forever, sometimes is quick

Official Hilton policy is 5 days, after which you can file a missing stay request

Stayed at the Carolina Inn Chapel Hill (Doubletree) this past weekend and my points posted within 24 hours

My experience has varied considerably. For most stays in the US, normally in 24 hours, all within 48 hours. Even when I stayed in London at the Hilton Tower Bridge the stay posted super fast, maybe a day (those folks deserve major kudos for everything). The Conrad Dublin took about 3 weeks.

I finally had to call to get my points posted for a stay in Europe. They posted them while I was on the phone.

Time for points to post

I have noticed that overseas Hiltons take longer to post points for a stay. Not sure why that is. You would think they have access to the same system as domestic Hiltons. I checked out of the Brisbane Hilton a week ago. Points have not posted. Checked out of the St. Louis Airport Hilton 2 days ago. Those points have posted.

All 'overseas' Hiltons will take upto 7 days - so UK Hilton's will normally post quicker if you are UK based, whereas Australian will be quicker if you are Australian based.

That is my experience anyway :)

I received all my base points (3/$) and some of my bonus points (2/$) on first posting, been told balance will come in 8-12 weeks. This is lucridous. Is there any easy way to track bonus points? I didn't like the customer service response, "you have to trust us."

My thought when I saw this thread was, "there's someone who can easily track Amex postings to their Honors account?" With some points posting in one billing cycle, while others post in the next, it would take a spirited effort on a spreadsheet to keep track.

I pretty much gave up with HH and Amex.

Anyone know if Amex is confusing with all programs SPG, etc or HH only?

SPG just gives 1 point/$ on all transactions - so not an issue - although I will note that I haven't checked on the accuracy of the posting - should I?

I've never had a problem in the 9+ years I've had my card. My points post regularly within a few days of the close of month statement. You can check your statement online to see how many points it earned you, then check your HHONORS online to see if the right number of points were credited.

To get a rough calculation of what it should be, multiply 3 by your dollars spent. Sometimes it is higher than this, but should never be lower.

Incorrect Points Posting

Back in January, I was credited points for a stay that wasn't mine. Not sure how it happened, but recently it happened again. Strangely enough, when I click on "efolio" it shows a bill in my name with my address. However, I never stayed at either place, never even had a reservation.

Has this happened to anyone else? Ethical issues (whether to keep the points) aside, should I be concerned that there is someone out there impersonating me? I have not noticed any false charges on my credit cards, but I suppose it is possible that someone has applied for cards in my name.
