Depends what area you're staying, but the Swan Court at Hyatt is more upscale, for better or worse, and probably more along the lines of what you've experienced. Very nice setting. Not sure if they do things up special on Sundays tho.

Thanks jpete and alex...unfortunately our scheduling changed and we ended up not making any brunch Sunday. We DID have dinner at Swan Court and it was pleasant though overpriced as with most restaurants in Maui. Not to deviate from the brunch question, but dinner at the Swan in Hyatt did not allow us to see the sunset (in case anyone was interested) thought the view was serene,etc..

Nice restaurant in Lahaina for dinner for a honeymoon couple for around $100?

A good friend's daughter is getting married and honeymooning in Lahaina Maui in September. Fiance is in culinary school and daughter loves good food so I thought we'd get them a GC for a nice meal. However looking at the upscale restos in Lahaina, we'd have to spend more than $200 to cover meal and wine.

Any suggestions where $100 would cover most of the meal plus a bottle of wine? if they had to kick in $20-30 that'd be fine. They are very young (early 20's) and don't eat in fancy places much but I would like to try to find something they'd enjoy and be a bit special.

Otherwise it's Macy's registry for me :(

Thanks all

Well, for $100 in Maui, you aren't going to probably get an upscale experience, unless you maybe do lunch instead of dinner. I will say that the best meal I had last time we were there was at Kimo's in Lahaina (I was surprised, too!). Better than Mama's or a few other places. Great location on the water, live music in the evening, a good menu that's well prepared, and decent service.

My vote would be a beach side table at Pacific 'O

Leilani's

I really enjoyed Leilani's when we went there in April. It is right on the ocean.

I believe that they are known for fish tacos. I thought that they were great.

And they could decide if they want to do lunch , the beachside dinner or spend $$ and do the dining room. it's definitely an option. thanks

No way is $100 going to go very far, not with a bottle of wine. $100 might cover dinner at a Leilani's, Hula Grill, Duke's or Honu's, but not at any of West Maui's better restaurants.

Aloha Mixed Plate and Star Noodle have good food, but neither is gourmet by any stretch.

$100 at Pacific 'O wouldn't get them past drinks and pupu's, or barely just.

This one is a tough question.. but I happen to know a place that is absolutely fabulous and I think you can squeek it in if you happen to be in Kihei.. Ristorante Italiano IIRC in the same strip as Kihei's Sansei.

Sansei itself could be an answer if you show up prior to 5 pm Sundays and Mondays.. 50% off all food.. There is a location in Kapalua as well..

Ristorante Italiano is operated by the former Four Seasons Hualalai head chef.. The meals are typically in the $15 to $20 per plate range, and is a culinary delight. Absolutely out of this world for the value paid. You should be able to squeeze in a bottle or a couple glasses of wine.. with tax and tip just under $100.. and have the gamut of the menu to choose from.

I can't find any listing for this restaurant?

We never spend near that much - but then again we don't order wine and generally share one appetizer and one dessert along with our entrees.

Maui is not a cheap place to dine if you want "high level" dining - honestly there is much better local food that runs circles around all of the high-end restaurants, but these are not romantic or luxury places.

To hit this budget, and keep with the theme of the evening, I would probably put together a picnic basket of local eats, a bottle of wine from Costco and drive up to just below the summit of Haleakala in the late afternoon, find a pullout, and enjoy dinner together while watching one of the prettiest sunsets imaginable with almost all of Maui sits below.

My pick would be Mala Ocean Tavern, but $100 for 2 people with a bottle of wine would be tough, but, as mentioned previously, that price is tough for any of the better places in Maui. I do think that they could get out of there for under $125 if they went with a reasonable bottle of wine.
