We liked Cafe O'Lei in Kihei. We also thought Coconuts Fish Cafe had quite good fish tacos, but that is more of a fast casual place. Was somewhat disappointed by Monkeypod.

Here's a couple of places we visited on our last trip; I'd recommend any of them:
Kahului - Da Kitchen. Stopped here for a late lunch after arriving into OGG. You can add yourself to the waitlist via their website; we did this as we were exiting the rental car facility. Kihei - Maui Brewing Company. We stopped here around Happy Hour and it was a pretty lively scene. We just stopped to get some beverages to go but did eat later at their location on Oahu and liked it for dinner. I'd consider trying Kihei for lunch or Happy Hour if I were staying in the area. Olowalu - Leoda's - Stopped by to pick up a most excellent banana cream pie to go and enjoyed it as a post-dinner treat in our hotel suite. Lahaina - Star Noodles - We had a very nice dinner and had enough leftovers to supplement breakfast the next day. Kaanapali - We had lunch at Monkeypod, which was fine; I like Monkeypod for lunch over dinner. We also went to the a new bakery called Hoi Hoi Hawaiian Bakery that recently opened in the strip mall that's at the Black Rock entrance into Kaanapali on Kekaa Drive and the highway. They also have their main bakery in Wailuku and make very refined baked goods; we especially liked their tofu chips (like won ton strips) and Spam Crusubi, which was a slice of Spam encased in croissant pastry. Kula - We had lunch at the Kula Bistro and enjoyed the fresh salads and panini. Napili - We had lunch at Joey's Kitchen, a plate lunch place run by a very friendly local Filipino family; I thought the food was perfectly fine. |
Spam Crusubi, which was a slice of Spam encased in croissant pastry That definitely sounds interesting. Thanks for the post! |
Here's some photos of it:

Anyone been to Lineage? It's in the Wailea mall (which counts against it to me and makes it a neighbor to Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar) but it's a new place by Sheldon Simeon and he's the guy behind Tin Roof, which I really like.
I'll probably try it out, but if anyone has experience and/or recommendations . . . |

Paia Fish Market in Lahaina & Kihei were also very good and fairly priced. |
Consolidated "Restaurant Recommendations on Maui (2021-Onward)" thread
I am in Wailea this week with my 14 year old. I would appreciate some recommendations for legit pizza and/or burger joints.
|
Wailea never struck me as having many options for casual lunch/dining. There's better options up in Kihei, such as Maui Brewing.
Understand the question is a few years old but readers should note that Sheldon Simeon is no longer the chef at Lineage; Tin Roof in Kahului is his only restaurant, I believe. I'm sure we will be getting his new cookbook. |

Yeah, I agree there's not a lot of casual dining in Wailea. Threes Bar/Grill in south Kihei is always really good. Maui Brewing a little further up into Kihei (and across the highway) is good but the ordering at the counter thing kind of stinks. Coconuts Tacos is great. There was a really good burger place in Shops of Wailea (Cheeseburger in Paradise I think) but a couple weeks ago when I was last down there it was closed and isn't showing up on Google. I've had good Mexican at Amigos right in the heart of Kihei.

Check out manoli’s pizza in Wailea. Pretty good pizza and my teenagers like it.
|
Thank you all; I’ll check on Yelp and will also try out Manoli’s

My all time favorite in Maui is The General Store. It is in the upcountry. Maybe a 30 minute drive from Wailea or the airport. I always eat here at least 3x per trip. Crab pizza app is a must. Reasonable (for Maui), high quality, and great service. I like the ambiance, too, even though it is not on a beach. Enjoy!

paia fish market in wailea has a decent burger. long drive to Fleming spot for burgers is nice - it’s very north of kaanapali so it’s not close. It’s by DT Flemings and with westin or another top shelf hotel. Outdoor spot. Enjoy! |
Tommy Bahama's at The Shops at Wailea used to have a surprisingly good burger.

Lately I've been getting burgers from Stewz Maui Burgers food truck, which is upcountry in Pukalani near Long's. I think they also have a Kihei restaurant? I've never been to it. But it's listed on their website as currently open for outdoor dining in Kihei's Kukui Mall. www.stewzmauiburgers.com -David

Definitely super fun. Wait this is the abc store in Kapalua, yes? That’s what I’m thinking of.
I'm sure they meant Bev Gannon's Haliimaile General Store, which is an upcountry restaurant about 15 minutes up Haleakala Highway from the Kahului airport. https://hgsmaui.com/ I'm sure it's BYOR (Bring your own Rao's) |
