My favorite place for breakfast on the beach is Five Palms in the Mana Kai Maui in Kihei. Reasonable prices, and a beautiful view with the trade winds gently cooling you.

Does anyone have recent experience here? We will actually be in Kihei and will have a car.

If you're in Kihei, I highly recommend 5 Palms Restaurant for breakfast. Incredible views, sitting on the lanai just 50 feet from the beach. It's my go-to place for breakfast. No brunch buffet, but very reasonable prices for Maui, and great service.

(If you happen to have a Days Inn room key card, you get 20% off all food all day.)

Stella's Blues Cafe was a great spot to eat brunch at in Kihei (IMO - good portions and pretty decent prices, considering Hawaii tends to be pricier across the board), but they appear to have closed last year :(

Monkeypod is there, it's always been great. If you want to eat with the locals, go to Da Kitchen and get a mixed plate lunch....cheaper and good as well :-)

On the other hand, I've twice eaten at Mama's and each time gotten some spectacular sunset photos from the beach/grounds out front. Granted, you can't see if from the restaurant very well; on the other hand, it doesn't last that long.

Anyone try Miso Phat? Heard it's pretty good, and there's a second location now.

How about Migrant? Last trip, we didn't go, and went to Ko at the Fairmont, which was really mediocre (full of business groups, not about the food, not great service).

Looking forward to another meal at Morimoto's.

Also, that little gourmet shop in the second mall there (Capische? Le Capische?) is pretty good for a snack.

Cool. Thanks.

Last time, the concierge at the Andaz swayed us against Migrant and in favor of Ko. After eating at Ko, this seemed pretty strange. Looking forward to Migrant.

Also: decent poke at Eskimo Candy.

Migrant is solid. Chef Sheldon still serving up loosely Filipino inspired dishes. I like the baby back ribs, but his take on tocino was just ok, kind of chewy. Great garlic noodles and brussel sprouts.

Our somewhat cheaper breakfast option when staying at the Andaz is Kihei Caffe. We get there early to avoid the lines but even then, the wait is short enough and the food comes out quickly. As good a breakfast as any in Hawaii with all the favorites - banana mac nut pancakes/french toast, pork fried rice, loco moco. We've gone there multiple times a trip for the past 3 trips.

This thread has no mention of Tamura's - it's a liquor store with excellent poke.

Supposedly, they're opening one in Kihei, but there's one in Kahului that makes a great stop on the way to the airport:

I think the type I liked most was called Banzai (maybe Samurai?).

Anyway, reasonable prices, good selection, and truly excellent poke. Great for the plane ride home.

+10 to that! We unfortunately found this place on our last day on the Island on our last trip in December. It is amazing. We wish we would have known about it sooner.

Which location did you visit?
