I guess HO takes the destinations that MU does not care about. Presumably many Oceanian destinations are hands off from HO.

CA announced they will cancel PVG-MEL and PVG-SYD IIRC
So is there demand enough for yet another AU connection?
CZ has massive capacity via CAN I think.

Tibet Airlines has filed its schedule, but I (seemingly) no fares:
TV6001 TNA1530 – 2030HEL 330
TV6002 HEL2230 – 1230+1TNA 330
Monday and, later, Thursday. If they actually pull this off, they will beat HO at being the first Chinese carrier in HEL - with a most unimaginable route.
No news of CZ?

Googling Jinan, it's one of those Chinese megacities (8.7 million!) no one has ever heard of... And with an airport that has no directs to Europe. If TV can partner with tour operators, I'm sure they can fill two A330s a week with Chinese tourists snapping a quick picture at Senate Square (no, wait, snapping 100 quick pictures) before connecting to continental Europe.
The schedule seems very pleasant, too.

The schedule may be nice(r than Finnair's big wave) from a certain point of view. But it precludes most onward connections to Europe. So indeed, aside from tour-guided Chinese starting with Helsinki as their first stop, I don't see who'd use this.
O/D traffic from HEL is probably very very low. And if Jinan is not even a hub for TV, then it's clearly not meant to capture China-bound Helsinki passengers.

My guess is a carefully planned itinerary where HEL is the first stop and the last stop is one that has an evening flight landing at HEL after 8 pm. There are at least nine European cities from which there are such connections (not limited to AY flights).

Certainly from Europe, connections would be possible if TN has/makes necessary interlining agreement with AY and possibly others. Finnair has a mini-bank around 7-8pm. But to Europe, it's mostly domestic plus Estonia and Stockholm that can be flown late enough, so we agree that they'd have to start with a Helsinki photoshoot.

Their PVG-AU services were legacy of times (I think even since CAAC days in the 80's, long time before even Pudong was built) when flights to AU were PEK-SHA-SYD-MEL-SHA-PEK.
CA tried different tings at PVG (like flights to SJC - San Jose, California) and looks like they cannot win with MU.
