Current and historical promotions

This is a thread for reporting details of promotions in the Finnair+ program.

The purpose of the wiki is to keep a repository of current and historical promotions. This works best if all details are given in a post of the thread. Once such a post is made, edit the wiki and add a short description of promo in headline-style, with a link to the post that holds the detailed information. (You can create such a link by right-clicking the post-number and copy link location).
Do not link to the promo itself from the Wiki, as the promo page is likely to disappear once the promo ended and such link will die, leaving the wiki sans historical info.

Feel free to discuss alterations to the format in the thread below.

Do not delete historical posts.

Some more details in the upgrade offer (after chatting with CS)

- valid only for new upgrades, current ones cannot be "repriced" Of course you can cancel and upgrade again - too bad, if the availability is not there anymore
- discount apply only if there is availability, no discount for waitlisted upgrades.

Quite a letdown, tbh.

  • Registration period: 24–27 November 2017. You must register before your flight. Only new reservations made between 24–27 November 2017 are eligible for extra points.
  • Travel period: 24 November 2017–30 June 2018.
  • Eligible booking classes: all.
  • Eligible routes: Finnair marketed and operated routes to all destinations.
  • Only registered Finnair Plus members are eligible for double points.
  • Extra points are award points only and do not affect your tier point balance.
  • The extra points may be awarded only once.
  • The promotion does not qualify for extra tier bonus points.
  • Finnair Plus terms and conditions apply. Finnair reserves the right to make changes at any time.

I realize I might be too optimistic, but couldn't it mean that in a reservation consisting of more flights, the points will be awarded just once? AY's T&C are by far not perfect - see the double points eligibility...

EDIT: Just received an email, in which conditions are clear - once per booking, once per campaign period. They learned their lesson from those lucky ones hit by 8000 points bonus earlier this year.

Otherwise, especially long-haul Black Friday deals seem to be more for non-FTs (well, of course, no surprise). I can't imagine buying e.g. TLL-DEL for €365 with 25% instead of paying €440 for 100%. Or AMS-ICN €405 / 25% vs. €500 / 100%.

On AY's site travel period for 3000 extra points is 24.11.2017-30.6.2018 and just received e-mail from Finnair Plus and it says:
Matkustusaika: 1.12.–29.9.2017

Do they ever read or crosscheck these rules..... is this professional organisation or what sending these offers.

It is admittedly easy to miss these things, but AY seems particularly bad at proof reading. The 3k offer also says "double points" in the text...

No it is not in professional organisation if You focus and if You realize what You're doing.

I'd normally agree with that. It is just that my organization just sent out some 75 000 flyers with the word "Lokaler" instead of "Lokala" in the heading. :-o
At least two people proofed it (not me !) The words are correctly spelled words, normally in use in our communication. Two people missed it, and I probably would have too, as we all knew what the heading was supposed to read.

Errors from sloppy copy-paste is another matter. That IS unprofessional.

And dates, times, prices and campaign codes are things one should meticously check several times at proofing!

Hi there! I just wonder why these fares only earn 25% (campaign). They seem to be R-class so shouldnt it be min. 50%?

Good point! I actually considered all Campaign ticket types earning 25%, but checking it now, it could actually earn 50%.

It's not the booking class that decides, but the "Campaign/Light/Basic/Value/Pro" designation. You can have the same booking class in different designations

It's R class but ticket type is Campaign and it's 25%.

As far as I know, the fare basis really decides, not the ticket type. If I guessed correctly, 25%-earning tickets have a 0 inserted after the booking code within the fare basis.

I second that. I've booked a campaign ticket that earned 50%:
AY 90 CAMPAIGN (W) BKK-HEL: +2500
AY 89 CAMPAIGN (R) HEL-BKK: +5000

Yeah, I looked at that and thought it could earn 50% in R as there is actually no Campaign ticket type mentioned. Then I realized that when you are booking the ticket, it shows 25%. But then we have the above mentioned experience...well, amazing.
