Current and historical promotions

This is a thread for reporting details of promotions in the Finnair+ program.

The purpose of the wiki is to keep a repository of current and historical promotions. This works best if all details are given in a post of the thread. Once such a post is made, edit the wiki and add a short description of promo in headline-style, with a link to the post that holds the detailed information. (You can create such a link by right-clicking the post-number and copy link location).
Do not link to the promo itself from the Wiki, as the promo page is likely to disappear once the promo ended and such link will die, leaving the wiki sans historical info.

Feel free to discuss alterations to the format in the thread below.

Do not delete historical posts.

If I read the TCs correctly then the promo applies only to new tickets. So you wouldn't be able to use this anyways. Which is a shame as I have booked flights to Barcelona where I'd love to use half points for upgrades. I think intra EU upgrades are useful if flight time is over 3 hours.

Not sure the "only new bookings" means you cannot upgrade an existing booking. At least, it has not been that strict previously, IIRC? I'd say they mean that offer cannot be applied in retrospect, ie if you already upgraded you cannot claim 50% points back. So new booking in this context means the booking of the upgrade.

The value, with the 50 % off promotion, in my opinion comes from the following:

- you get to sit in row 1 with extra legroom and be the first to leave the plane
- you can board among the last passengers – they'll put your carry-on in the closet and you don't need to worry about space
- you have an empty middle seat
- you get a decent meal, even if it is only comparable to a 1990s Y class meal

Of course, should you not have status, you get entry to lounges and priority at check-in/baggage drop & security.

The upgrade is well worth it if the flight is ~3 hours, I think.

This seems to be a correct interpretation. IIRC, I have previously been able to apply the offer also on an existing booking.

In my opinion, with this offer intra-Europe upgrades are worth it even on ~ 2-hour flights... of course provided that the flight is not operated by Flybe when you cannot have the middle seat blocked.

Was definitely worth it during summer on Thursdays to and from BRU, when they used a A330 or A340 on the route for cargo reasons. =)

The whole campaign would have gone by were it not for this discussion - just blew the last of my AY points on an intra-EU upgrade. Would have been most awkward to sit in the back with Mrs ans Ms Wilco sitting in the front

Indeed. Even the 1h45min TXL - HEL hop feels a lot nicer when in shorthaul J. At least it guarantees having a hot meal of something edible and mostly a calm front cabin plus the aforementioned overhead space for luggage.

Actually re-upgrade may be possible in some cases. AY+ customer service will cancel existing upgrade if there is free seats under original booking class. And perhaps you dare ask a new ug within same call.

Double OT, but here goes. Did your OW Saphire status update quickly to AY IT-system - mine hasn't and made calls to both AA and AY. AA states that they see all working well and AY seems clueless. Have not received my card and using AA app for lounge access seems to be challenging..
