My fiancee and I are currently on a posting in Uganda and we are due to leave in July to return back to London. we would like to do a rtw trip but we need your help.

We would like to visit Perth, Brisbane, Tokyo, Vancouver and New York.

Should we start our trip in Entebbe and fly EBB-DXB-PER-BNE-TYO-YVR-JFK-LHR-DXB-EBB? Is this possible with EK/UA?

Or should we start/end our journey in Mumbai or Bangkok? We have enough Flying blue miles to get to BOM or BKK if the rest of the trip would be significantly cheaper.

We would like to fly business on this route - is EK/UA the best value? I know that this trip could be done with World Perks. Any idea of the cost?

Sounds like a great trip, but you can't do this routing. EBB-DXB-PER is fine on EK, then you would have to make your own way to BNE and then down to SYD to pick up UA up to LAX or SFO and onewards to YVR. Then something like YVR-IAD (perhaps via ORD) and on to LON (UA dropped JFK-LHR late last year), before picking up EK again. TYO is out of your itinerary as you would be backtracking. An ALT would be

EBB-DXB-BKK (stop) - your own paid or mileage sidetrip to Oz - then BKK-TYO on UA, TYO-SFO-YVR-NYC-IAD-LHR on UA, then LHR-DXB with EK. Cheaper fare as it is North Pacific RTW.

There is no price posted for the UA/EK-RTW ex EBB. You may still start it there, but the price ex USA would apply.
You might be better off with the "18 airlines-RTW" which you call "worldperks", though domestic flights in Australia are not possible.

30K miles: 5996 EUR
35K miles: 6847 EUR
40K miles: 8062 EUR

Another possibility is oneworld with a DONE4 for 5402 EUR or DONE5 for 5865 ex EBB. This one would allow PER-BNE. You could ask in the oneworld forum for routing assistance.

Ex BKK most RTW are quite low. Ex BOM you'd have to add the new business/first class tax.

If you would take the other worldperks rtw you can take a more direct route:

You can always try to get he route ticked but i doubt they gonna allow but you never know sometimes you get lucky and get someone less exprianced with a rtw.For the prices for the worldperks i got BKK about 4500Euro and BOM 3900EUR but i am not sure if that price is still right since it is from last year, i dont know about the prices ex CAI or JNB but i heard they are not that compative anymore from CAI.
By the way if you would strat ex BKK or BOM you would have the same problem with doing Australia before Japan, there is one option if you wannna do it the way you want and this a skyteam RTW ex bkk they allow backtracking for Australia because they only have on airline flying there KE so the route would be something of BKK-ICN-BNE(roundtrip to PER)BNE-ICN-NRT-MSP-YVR-AMS-LHR-CDG-BKK or something like that the price is about the same as the worldperks ticket.

Good luck with ticketing, this itin contains at least 3-4 violations of the rules, if you get it ticketed be careful with any reissue...

Okay, we've decided to give Tokyo a miss. Can anyone tell me if the following is possible on CRWEKUAS:

CAI-DXB-SIN-PER=BNE=SYD-SFO-YVR-JFK-LHR-CAI

It seems to be available at US$ 2779. Should I book with emirates in cairo or with a travel agent? Any recommendations?

1. SIN-PER is not possible as there are no EK flights, either you do DXB-PER without stop in SIN or SIN-BNE with EK. It is not sure if SIN-BNE//SYD-SFO is considered backtracking for the BNE-SYD surface leg but as it is not much backtracking, it could go through.
2. YVR-JFK nonstop is not possible because it is not served by UA. The flight you quoted before is operated by Air Canada and codeshare flights are not allowed. You could go YVR-ORD/DEN-EWR/LGA
3. JFK-LHR will be JFK-iad-LHR
4. LHR-CAI will be LHR-dxb-CAI

In that case, can I assume the following is possible:

CAI-DXB-PER=SYD-HNL-ORD-BUF-IAD-JFK-IAD-LHR-DXB-CAI

Also, if UA flights do not have business class will we be accommodated in first?

1. SYD-HNL is not possible as the UA flight is a codeshare on Air Canada. You could do SYD-SFO-HNL for a surcharge that allows backtracking in North America once.
2. Two transits in IAD are not possible as the second one will be backtracking. If you want to go to YYZ, you can go ORD-YYZ-ORD as there is an exception for this routing and two transits in ORD enroute to YYZ are ok.

In North America, you can book in First where no Business class is available.

Unfortunately, the exception applies only to ORD-YYZ, not any other route through ORD.
The price is showing 2779 $ in business ex CAI on SABRE as you quoted.

This is getting more and more diificult. Can you think of any way of making this trip work? Is there an alternative transit point between BUF and NYC or between NYC and LHR?

Alternatively, could we take a train from BUF to NYC and continue with our journey as is?
