Then something like YVR-IAD (perhaps via ORD) and on to LON (UA dropped JFK-LHR late last year), before picking up EK again. TYO is out of your itinerary as you would be backtracking. An ALT would be
EBB-DXB-BKK (stop) - your own paid or mileage sidetrip to Oz - then BKK-TYO on UA, TYO-SFO-YVR-NYC-IAD-LHR on UA, then LHR-DXB with EK. Cheaper fare as it is North Pacific RTW.
Hope this helps.
Well if he does Japan before Oz it can be done EBB-DXB-KIX(overland)TYO-SIN-BNE-(buy seperate BNE-PER-SYD)SYD-LAX-YVR-ORD-LHR-DXB-EBB
If you would take the other worldperks rtw you can take a more direct route:
EBB-JNB-PER-(seperate ticket)BNE-KUL-NRT-PDX/SEA-YVR-AMS-LHR-DXB-EBB
