Emirates Seating Guide

A380
First:
- Solo travelers: some say row 4 is loud from the galley behind, while row 1 may be a bit more cramped than other rows. Most suggest rows 2 or 3, seats A or K.
- Couple: E/F seats in rows 1-3 are all fairly similar.
- General: the mini cabin at the back has a more secluded feel, though some comment that there is noise from the bar beyond row 23.
- Solo travelers: most prefer seats A and K (solo seats on sides with windows).
- Couple: aim for seats E/F to be closer together.
- General comments: upgrade if at all possible!

777
First:
- Solo travelers: Row 1, especially 1a and 1k, is the worst because of galley and lavatory right in front. Noisy and high traffic. Not much difference between row 1 and 2 in terms of space on the 77w for k or a seats.
- Couple: there is not really any difference between row 1 and 2 for e and f seats except 1 is near the galley and 2 is near row 6 in j where there may be children
- General: There is limited direct aisle access as the configuration is 2-3-2. The rear J cabin will have Y pax move through on boarding.
- Solo travelers:
- Couple: 7 j and k are great if you don't mind the missing window. It's in the private mini cabin - a great choice unless you like window gazing. You also don't get y traffic passing through this cabin as you turn left on entry!
- General comments: Y on the 777 is for slim people.

Have a look on this seat portal, pass your mouse over the seat on the map and you can see the desired seat and some comments regarding the area.

It was my oh that booked these as he is quite tall so extra legroom is quite an issue for him.
i am personally not that bothered but I could justify the cost by knowing we would be in a row of 2 rather than 3 😟
Row 67 is available but we didn't choose these due to them being next to the toilets.
i just think that the cost is sooooo high that they should at least let you know that you may not get what you think you are getting.... 😡
If I hadn't posted on here I would have had no idea that the seat maps shown are not correct!
I guess the the question is, what is the probability that we will have a 80a? Is it more likely than not, or is it easier to know the length of a piece of string.

My calculations are 22 from 47 Non ULR frames have seats 80A and 80K. However, it's not that simple as I can see on Flightradar that the route sometimes uses LR frames. 17 from 38 (ish) of these have them, so overall, it's in your favour.
What would you dislike most - another passenger next to you or being closer to the toilets?

Not familiar with Y cabins.
This said, 80 B&C are sold as "extra legroom" seats, right ?
Therefore, there is no ground for a formal complain if there is a 80A seat, as OP didn't buy "duo" seats, how disappointing it may be.

Careful, you'll find the space in front of 81K is mine, not yours
In fact there is one pocket in the distance for 80C, and one on the wall for 80B, above the one for 81A (and vice versa on the other side). I'm not a huge fan of these seats, there is a lot of traffic in from of you at some points in the flight, but the legroom is good.

Greetings - I'm visiting from my usual home on the BA forum
I'm booked on my first EK flight. Sadly it's LHR-DXB in Y (thanks to a cheap client) and I'm trying to figure out seats. As you might surmise, I like a window seat.
I have no status, so I'll have to stump up if I want to pick a seat. So - what are the chances that I'll be able to grab a window seat at checkin, if I don't pay? I appreciate no-one can give me exact information, but if there's a decent chance of a selection of window seats left at that time, I might just risk it.

Thanks for that. It sounds promising, although I note your caveat - should I be fussy where the seat is?
The regular seat fee isn't that much - is it worth paying to be nearer the front for example? Sorry to be so green - I haven't flown without the perks of status for years!
