Also, is the in airport hotel a good idea for the layover--and does it allow us to stay in the terminal and avoid dealing w/customs and immigration on the way out of Dubai. Many thanks for your time and your thoughts!!

Yes.

I normally hate the A380 but was impressed by the 23k seat. Its like an F suite ( a poor man's version of course)

Totally private as long as you ignore the reflection of the person sitting in 22G ( on the silver flower vase).

In fact after the last few flights in K seats on the 380 , I actually prefer it to the 777.

However while travelling with mrsukdoctor I usually end up with the E/F seats which are not great as neither of us gets the window . Of course there are no windows for the E/F seats in F either but at least it is more spacious.

Nothing that can't be solved with a pair of eye shades :D;).

2 and 3, row one is narrower and smaller due to the curve of the plane.

We had 2K and 3K the other week - great choice. Enjoy!:)

Very good option, you can also use the lounges for f&b. Book early (prices from AED700+) and you get met a the gate and escorted to the hotel.Do not pay extra for Exec room-poor f&b and the coffee machine and massage chair need a Science degree to master...

There's no easy answer to this; the A380 can arrive at - and depart from - Concourse A, B or (occasionally) C. My approach is to just book the Concourse A hotel and hope for the best. I choose A as I prefer the lounge there which I use for meals during the transit. But it means sometimes I've had to take the train from B to A on arrival or hike to concourse C for departure.

On one occasion my flight arrived at B; the hotel person meeting me at the gate made a phone call and got me switched from the A concourse hotel to the B concourse one. :) It was probably one of the midnight arrivals with a 10 hour transit so I was glad to save time at that point.

777-200lr

Is this review in the 'Emirates Seating Guide' with regards to seat 1A on the emirates 777 referring to the new 777-200LR, or the ER?

Both the 777-200LR and 777-300ER have identical F cabin layouts - the reduced space is in the Y cabin.

advise required on seat selection - emirates A380

Hi,

It will be my first long haul flight from Dubai to Perth. Its almost 11 hrs non-stop flight. I have never traveled with A380 therefore really excited to experience this superb jumbo flight.

I have below question.

1) Will be travelling with economy class, so is it possible to have economy seat in upper deck ?

2) Which seat in economy have below characteristics:
a) good leg space
b) away from toilet / lavatory
c) window side
d) can easily enter/exit seat without disturbing other passengers

Finally, what else is there to look / enjoy in A380 which is not there in normal planes ?

Thanks
Viki

There is a site seatguru.com that will help you.

http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Emi...irbus_A380.php

Sadly for you, the A380-800 that you'll be on doesn't have Y seats on the upper deck.

Can't say there is much that is unique to see on the A380 but you will have a comfortable ride. The humidity and pressure are more favorable for the flight which can help reduce travel fatigue.

EK also have a features on your flight section of their website. It shows amenities for the flight you'll be taking.
