Ticket cancellation - is YQ refundable?
I have this ticket which I have to cancel. Unfortunately, it was purchased via online travel agency and not directly on emirates.com
The fare rules state that ticket is refundable with a charge PLN 1500.00 (departure is from WAW), which is approx. 40% of all the amount paid, but ok. So I have asked the agency to process the refund, first they denied, then in the end they want to refund only little amount like less than 1% of all the money paid. After exchanging some e-mails, I found that they want to deduct their fee (which is ok, it's their T&C) but also they don't want to refund the YQ which is large portion of this ticket.
I have checked with Emirates directly and they deny to speak about this case and send to travel agency. But I have checked with other travel agents who confirmed to me that YQ is always refundable when ticket is cancelled before departure, it would be not only when claiming back the taxes when no-show.
So who is right in this case? Is this possible that EK has this rules that YQ is always non-refundable? That would be weird. But maybe someone can confirm please?

There is normally a flat cancellation fee depending on the fare type. Which is probably the PLN 1500 that you are seeing. Are the agency adding their own cancellation charge on top of that?
YQ isn't always refundable. I know with BA you don't get the YQ refunded if you cancel a non-refundable ticket (you can get the actual taxes back, less the "administration" fee).

DYKWIA so that's my question, is the YQ refundable with EK tickets, in the case where fare allows cancellation with a fee.
The agency fee is approx. 60€ which is ok, I don't argue with that as it's their additional work.

I had this happen to me once last year. Booked First Flex fully refundable through Expedia (wanted to ticket in USD to avoid currency losses) Expedia claimed the YQ was non refundable. The ticket terms are so confusing, there are places it says it is non refundable and others that it is refundable. Expedia claimed they don't issue the refund, EK does, and that the YQ is non refundable according to EK. It was only like $70 on an $6000 ticket so I just gave up arguing but I was kind of annoyed that they claim it is fully refundable but it is actually not.
