Did he have to quarantine after getting the results (assuming they were negative)? The current rules seem to be conflicting, as they say that apart from the test being negative, you still have to quarantine for 14 days.

you talking about dubai? no, as the undertaken form saying will only need to self quarantine until you get negative result, this time I waiting for half day ( arrive at T2 in might night). if you get positive, then you need to be quarantine for 14 days.

Did he mention how long it took the process of getting the test done? Was it a lot of waiting or quite quick undertaking the test? Assume it needed to be done before you could join the line for passport control?

in the collect sample area you need to register your information again with the lab test company and some one will do a swab test. after that you can collect luggage and leave the airport waiting for result

T3 is as follows:
- tourists directed to one area and residents to another. No egates.
- there's a set of tables in front of the passport stations where someone will take your details, enter you into the system and give you a label specimen bag with your details. They ask for your mobile
- you then go through passport control and the hand luggage xray, after which you are directed to the far left/right walls of the terminal where there's a bank of what was something like 10 cubicles
- you sit down, give them your specimen bag, they swab your nose and, voil, it's done
- you carry on (dont forget to buy your duty free)
It did not add more than 3 minutes to my process, albeit no queue at the time.
In my case, test results came in 24 hours (Free and clear!) via text message.

Did it a few days ago. The process is quite fast but will of course depend on the number of pax arriving in the terminal.

There's no request to buy or see health insurance?

They did not ask for for proof of insurance (as a resident) although all residents are supposed to have insurance as part of the residency and/or employment process.

Yes, they stamped the passport even for residents (this is not new if you don't go through the egates). E-gates closed on exit as well, btw.

Is there any way to buy an insurance only for Dubai, including Covid, let say for 30 days...if you are not a resident of a country with a main insurance industry? Most travel insurance have now exclusions...would be nice to have something available on arrival...
