T3 is as follows:
- tourists directed to one area and residents to another. No egates.
- there's a set of tables in front of the passport stations where someone will take your details, enter you into the system and give you a label specimen bag with your details. They ask for your mobile
- you then go through passport control and the hand luggage xray, after which you are directed to the far left/right walls of the terminal where there's a bank of what was something like 10 cubicles
- you sit down, give them your specimen bag, they swab your nose and, voilà, it's done
- you carry on (dont forget to buy your duty free)
It did not add more than 3 minutes to my process, albeit no queue at the time.
In my case, test results came in 24 hours (Free and clear!) via text message.
Ah man. No e-gate.
but doesn’t look like South Africa will open borders this year anyway.
