“All Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold and Silver members will have their existing tier status extended.

For members with a current tier review date between September 2020 and August 2021, your tier review date will be extended by 12 months. This will reflect on your profile after your existing tier review date. For example, if you have a tier review date of 30 March 2021, this will be adjusted to 30 March 2022. Keeping your current tier status will be based on your travel activity between 30 March 2021 and 30 March 2022.

For members whose tier status has been extended in 2020 and your current tier review date is 31 October 2020, your tier review date will be extended by 12 months from your original tier review date. For example, if you had an original tier review date of 30 March 2020, this will be adjusted to 30 March 2021.”

What points?

Skywards Miles or Tier Miles?

Skyward Miles :) Hope these rules also change by end of year like it did for Tier status.

Email received overnight. Interesting no mention of extension or Covid-19. I had needed 22k Tier Miles to retain Gold by 30 September 2020.

Skywards Survey - extending tier status
 

I was asked to complete an online survey on Emirates Skywards loyalty programne and I saw this:

How do you rate the support extended by Emirates Skywards.

Extending tier status: Members with tier review dates between 30 September 2020 to 31 August 2021, will have their existing tier status extended for 12 months.

I wasn't aware of this extension. But since my review date is April 2021, I am happy to know I will retain my gold status until well into 2022. I am hoping to take my first flights since February soon.

PS: Miles validity also extended as per below:

"We’ve extended the validity of any Skywards Miles due to expire from April 2020 until 31 March 2021. Skywards Miles can be redeemed up to 11 months in advance for an extensive range of rewards, including flight tickets on Emirates and partner airlines, flight upgrades, hotel stays, and money-can’t-buy experiences."
