SO this is separate to my Ho Chi Minh ticket question, this is about the NEW replacement ticket I bought. I bought it 3 weeks ago and it's for May. Is it not eligible for free changes because it's not a ticket purchased since that offer was put out? Thanks.

Think Trumps ban is going to have an effect on a number of EK flights and loads, will be intresting to see if EK starts to use 777 instead of A380's for some routes to US

FLL Flights cancelled

Looks like EK has suspended all FLL flights going forward. Scheduled to fly SIN-DXB-FLL today but I'm having to go through JFK instead. Taking JetBlue JFK-FLL
Agent said he did not see any future FLL flights on his screen.
Not a huge deal but it is an inconvenience and I'm getting home 6 hours later.
One question, does anyone know if I'm entitled to any compensation because of this? I was F then J originally. Now coach on JetBlue and I no longer have CD after landing and will have to take a taxi.
Another question, my travel companion booked using points. EK was unable or unwilling to book his JFK-FLL connection and he had to shell out $250 for the flight. That doesn't seem fair. I know these are unprecedented times but business is business.

I doubt you'd get anywhere asking for compensation for your ticket. However, it's worth asking and they may give you some Skywards points.

As for your companion, forward the receipt to EK and ask them to reimburse. It's the responsibility of EK to get him to the ticketed destination. If they refuse, then take it up with the appropriate small claims court in the US.

Is it an idea to keep all Corona-affected inquires in the corona topic here? It will make it easier to compare what others are struggling with and their recourse.

Flight Loads due to Corona (Covid-19)

Looking at the seat map for LAX-DXB on 03/17, I don't think I've seen such light loads. Any firsthand experience on flight loads recently?

Loads are not so bad. I still fly at least twice a week and routes arent as busy, but nowhere as empty as the media makes it out to be. Not that high loads = money, but still, it's not as bad as youd expect.

Will08 most likely a plat that can select that for free

I flew from Johannesburg to Dubai in economy on Wednesday 19th February before coronavirus took hold everywhere. Flight left about 10 am.

I would estimate economy load was 20%. Everyone who wanted could have three of four seats to themselves. Flight crew were delighted.

Low loads probably due to B777, mid week, no school holidays.

A week later from Dubai to Johannesburg the flight was probably 90% full. It was an A380.

Presumably loads are lighter now.
