I had another flight a couple of days ago. Arrived in BKK, once again, tags remained but my bags came off around halfway through the J bags. So from most of my experiences the tag has not played a part in the priority. I have only noticed tags ripped off when flying with others and their tags have been removed when utilising my benefit.

My reference to ripped off was not in the sense of deliberate. In my cases it is simply due to quality and/or placement of the tag, not deliberate action by someone. Also agree that container allocation probably occurs due to bar code at most stations (other than unsophisticated smaller ones), cant imagine baggage handlers looking for the priority tag on every bag before deciding on the container for flights with the likes of 380s and 777s.

FWIW, the check in agent in HYD put 2 F priority tags on my checked in suitcase, and it was the first to come out on the carrousel at JFK with both tags still intact (After the iO bags of course). Not sure her reasoning for putting 2 on, but maybe its because one might get ripped off so just throw an extra on for good measure?
