How was it?

So, any reports from those who have flown EK to or from since the route launched? I am debating taking an EK F flight from STN next month.

Luckily Im not returning from STN as there is only one lounge there thats used by every airline known to man, including EK. Plus Priority Pass plus anyone who wants to pay!! So it is very, very busy. And the offerings fall somewhat short of the normal EK offerings. Plus, they nearly didnt let me in, even though I was holding an onward J ticket! They said it was at capacity!!!!!
but it looks as though you are only going there as opposed to leaving from there so no issues for you! If you have the opportunity to try the new first, I would definitely go for it.

That's exactly what they've done. The quote referred to was travelling *to* STN.

I realise that the quote referred to was regarding F travel *to* STN. It appears to reference the possibility of being turned away from the STN lounge when departing from STN in J as part of the reason not to fly out of STN, however, so perhaps the poster has previously departed *from* STN in J.

Good to know EK have secured a dedicated area if that's the case.

Had seen a report that F pax are escorted to a group of dining tables marked reserved. The quote post's OP was flying in to STN and onward on another airline, not out of STN on EK

Correct. I was flying on a very British airline out of STN in J. Good to know EK have a dedicated space. However, it is still far too crowded!

This airport doesnt provide a premium experience for First/Business Class pax. Frankly its a bit of a joke. The lounge is awful - the staff made a big deal about reserving tables and having Prosecco on ice for us! How difficult would it have been to have champagne for EK pax?!
NoY likes this.

Big Disappointment

So maybe I had built it up too much in my head!

We headed out to Thailand n EK34 29/8 in First. Just writing my report now.

Few comments from STN

The driver was great and got us there in plenty of time.
Check in was a mess, just first and business together and big lines as families checking in with huge amounts of luggage. Station manager did pull us aside when he learned we were in 1st.
Security was quick and easy
Lounge, it is what it is. They do reserve seats for 1st, and business. The sign said it was full, but they were expecting us.
Boarding, shambles! One person - who was in business, was given VIP treatment and boarded well before anyone else. Also taken off the plane before anyone else. Rest of us had to wait. There was at least 20 wheelchairs, huge immigration force out checking. When they did board, it was a scrum, business and first all at once.
The flight was okay, just not what I expected. We were given pyjamas, and Bulgari kits.
Wifi not working. Crew nice, but seemed to be in training. The seat is awful feels like a dentist chair. Heating controls did not work. TV froze and re-set, chair kept failing and losing power, took 10 minutes to get it back to landing mode. The crew sat at front of 1st chatting all night.
110% it is not worth the money or any better than other products out there in my own opinion.
There was 3 of us in the cabin.

They do seem to try harder for arrivals:

- Fast Track available for anyone in F/J, not just for non-EU passport holders like LHR
- Separated baggage belts for F/J and Y
- Most intriguingly (and only because STN is a cheap airport), you can get a free baggage cart from the F/J "cart point" by showing your boarding pass.

But the shuttle train from the contact gate to the terminal building was pretty awful - big crowds, long waits.

Thought I would add my experience of Stansted to Dubai on EK34 on 7th October first class

Chauffeur collecting was excellent dropped outside terminal.
Check was no problem there was one person in front of me so not a long wait.
Security I headed to the fast track lane an official tried to send me through the normal lanes because he said there was not much of a queue but I persisted through the fast lane and was quickly through.
You walk all the way through the duty free are to get to the Lounge. It is not the best but for me perfectly adequate in the roped off area they set aside for Emirates.
Boarding was no problem used the 1st class line and proceeded with out any problem.
On board the team throughout the flight were great I think there were 5 passengers in 1st that night. I was impressed by the new seat comfortable and well organised However i am happy in any of the Emirates 1st class suites. Yes I like the totally enclosed suite but I would not go out of my way just to use such a flight.
Food as usual excellent and I slept extremely well after they had made up the bed.
I would have no problems using this service again from Stansted and if flying from a London airport would more than likely use Stansted.

That's interesting! May I ask why you would prefer STN over LHR or LGW?

The whole experience including getting to the airport is a perfectly good quality experience. I am aware some say that the lounge at Stansted is below those at the other London airports but for me it is perfectly acceptable I don't choose Emirates 1st class for the lounge experience I choose them for the onboard experience which I cannot fault and I have flown them several times in the last year and secondly they fly the routes that go to the places I require.
