From my own passenger experience (business sometimes but mainly economy) Emirates deploys their worst 777s to Africa. I refuse upgrade offers on any EK 777 flight from Africa because it's the bad/old angled business class hard product.

I frequently get 2 or 3 year old 777s on the ADD & EBB routes.

Have a look at FR24's lists and you will see it's not all bad. However, you don't state where in Africa you fly, so hard to confirm your particular route. Regardless, all 777s have the angled flat business seat. The only way to get consistency is to be right up the pointy end in F, which is usually very empty on African routes.

Not on the CPT route. Usually full!

Ok so why on earth is EK53 in the wiki?

Like all wikis on here, it relies on individual unpaid contributors to keep it up to date, and nobody will be checking the content unless prompted by a query like yours.

Feel free to update it as appropriate.

Oops, yes. RSA flights would be different I imagine. I have never been there, but hoping to make a JNB flight next year. I'll check out how crowded F is, but I usually rely on EF to tell me the loads beforehand.

Anyway, I'm off-topic..... again!

Canceled my trip to Asia a few days ago and was checking the tail numbers. A6-EQP is on its way to SEA on an off chance after consistently doing runs to VIE. It would’ve been my flight to try the new F from SEA-DXB... talk about bad luck.

And here I thought I was the only one that pulled off bad luck like this. Hope you snag it next time! Here's to better luck! :)

I did return flight on A6-EQP ... DXB - VIE flights.

On the return leg (on 14/02) I'm the only one in F.
The plane parked on remote stand at DXB, so I have the whole F bus for myself :D

Yeah... I’m still a little flabbergasted and upset since I don’t think I’ve ever cancelled a trip in the last 6 years unless I was sick. But with the coronavirus, and just finishing up a bunch of travel to London I decided to cancel the one day they happen to send the new F to SEA on a very off chance that I was booked onto.

If I’d have known the new F, I would’ve kept my reservation... I wonder what the odds are they send it again to Seattle? Is there any one US city that seems to have random outings of the new F? I know IAH had it consistently for a while until they brought back the A380. But I haven’t seen them send one of the new F birds to the states recently at all which is why I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I was looking up the tail numbers of them sending it on my canceled reservation!

Did anyone know that in the new F there are cameras that look into each suite which are accessible to the crew? I went to the galley to get a bottle of water and found the crew creepily watching another passenger...

uhhh... yeah that’s a little creepy. Least they could do is tell you you’re being video recorded.

The cameras are on most aircraft, not just in the new F and from previous discussions I don't think they record anything. They're only for observation (for safety reasons of course).

They do record, tapes are deleted after a couple of days.

This was the post that made me think otherwise, and the poster was EK crew at the time IIRC. It's from over 4 years ago though so things have doubtless changed.

Hmmm.... The fact that you said "tapes" make me a very doubtful about this.

Tapes was a figure of speech but take it for what you will.
