Anyone done an international to international flight transfer in Bkk on seperate tickets? And having to do immigration then collect luggage and then check in and through immigration again?
will be landing in Bkk on EK374 at 7:30am on a J class ticket so would have priority immigration and priority bags.
The Next flight Iam looking at departs at 11:30am.
is 4hrs from landing to departure cutting it too fine?

as a data point I booked an F return yesterday on the EK website from CPT. Cost was R52,900. Today the exact same flights are R81,849. However this could be due to inventory. The cheapest available F now on my route is R56339, although the dates for this price would not have worked for me. To keep with the flights booked yesterday would now be R52269 but not in F, in J!!!!!

Ouch, big increase in USD prices as well.
Lowest Y fare published is a K fare. A lot of these fares expire on 9 December as well which is the last day before peak season begins.
RBD Before After
X 87 N/A
K 189 221
M 305 338
Y 1468 1511
O 1158 N/A
I 2104 2307
A 2369 3857
Most of these (except A) expire 9 Dec, so they're off-peak fares, but no adv purchase requirement, except A which is 10 days.
The flight I booked yesterday is up about 6%

I'm traveling on one of those downgrade compensation certificates and I am planning my route back from MNL back to DXB via... well, wherever, in J. I have enough points to burn on QF or CX Asia-Australia and on SQ within Asia. The EK ticket is fully changeable. I'll most likely be writing/vlogging a trip review (discreetly, not like an arse), so I want to try a completely new product.
Here are my options:
MNL-HKG-ADL on CX in J then ADL-DXB (EK441) in the new 77L J
or
MNL-HKG on CX (Y) then HKG-BKK-DXB (EK385) in the new 2 class A380 with the new bar (looks like a 75% chance based on history)
or
MNL-SYD-AKL in QF (J) then AKL-DXB (EK449) just because it's the longest EK flight? Same usual A380 product - and I'll be on DXB-LAX a few days later.
or
something I haven't thought about yet?
What do you all think?
