iFlyMoreThanYou usually has good intel, so I wouldn’t doubt anything he says.

Quite a disappointment about CD though. I think EK delaying the return of CD until next April was just the first step.
It was one of the main differentiators of EK, and was very convenient. I’ll probably keep flying EK as long as they offer F on my routes, but if that goes away QR has a much better J product than EK.

I know that you have good intel, I guess that’s just me, after having to go through several internal restructuring and a company sale in the last 3 years my take on “sources” is not so positive. I just like to hear news when they are official...😉

It would be a shame if CD vanishes for good, it’s such a USP for EK. I will still though continue flying with them, they have a fantastic network and the majority of my flights have all been smooth with great crews and fabulous wines!

GF arguably has a better J product on its new planes than EK if CD disappears (and the A380 seat also probably becomes rarer), never mind QR/EY/WY! If I were EK, I'd be keeping CD around until they have a new J seat.

The cost of CDD CDA cant be that high in Dubai. I too think they shouldnt have cut this - at least keep it at your hub. Most people connect anyway so not that many will actually make use of it!

The cost is hardly high in outstations either. In Sydney its $50 flat rate within radius for all drivers. Even on healthy loads, that isn't actually a huge money saver.

I know you have good intel, but far more likely to see branded outstation lounges close before the complete removal of CD.

Opps....I posted about this in another thread. I really hope CD survives. This does seem like a minor cost savings in the end. Does anyone have any insight as to how many pax on average use CD. If, say, there is a full A380 (so 90 pax F+J), how many cares does that normally require? I note when when flying back to YYZ, there seems to be around 20 or so cars booked.

agreed. Will be a real shame to see it go. If I don’t return to DXB after lockdowns, without brand lounges and CD, I’d probably move on from EK. Or certainly stop flying EK exclusively.

CD saved us $200+ in parking fees when flying out of IAD. Combined with morning departures, it is partly why we chose to fly EK when we flew to SEZ, MRU, and MLE. Heck we took them to our most recent trip to SE Asia via SIN.

QR, in addition to being cheaper recently, has the Q suites. Most likely will be the final push to give them a try in J.

EK has just come back at this decision.

Effective 1jul CDD CDA is available again. All previous bookings will automatically be reinstated (if IT does its work!)

Maybe keep the rumours to the rumours thread in future?

The website still states April 2021

I am seeing more CD cars about since Wednesday (with the gold logo). I think they are being used for crew transport (one spotted on SZR this afternoon with pilot in the back) at the moment rather than the square red logo used for staff cars. There was a car outside my building this morning (CD Drive) but it could have been it was for one of the pilots that live in my building : they are usually in the red logo car.
I never used the service...Metro is good for me LOL

I value the info and comments from IFMTY and let's hope the chauffeur car service starts up in July.
