Change to UK Mileage

Just had a look at Emirates website and for the UK the allowance is being reduced from 70 miles to 50 miles

"Distance covered: 50mi
For Chauffeur-drive service provided up to 14th April 2020, available up to 70 miles for both First Class and Business Class passengers. For Chauffeur-drive service provided from 15th April 2020, available up to 50 driven miles for both First Class and Business Class passengers. Excess mileage charged at GBP7.50 for the first additional mile and GBP1.90 for each further mile. Payment made directly to Chauffeur-drive service provider. __

Exception: Passengers with eligible tickets issued up to 14th February 2020 will be offered up to 70 miles for both First Class and Business Class passengers irrespective of the date of travel."

Emphasis on "driven" means that could be the norm now rather than radius. The maps on the EK site still show a radius, but it emphasises they are approximations only and not to go by them. It puts GLA out of reach for me and I've only one trip booked so it might be my farewell one.

My dad is flying into LGW tomorrow on EK-9, I've booked CD for him, but neither of us have been to LGW in years.

Is there a CD desk after baggage claim or will there be someone holding a sign with his name on it?

Thanks

There is a new, relatively fancy CD desk on your left as you exit the baggage area (there is also someone with a sign pointing to that desk). He reports there and they will call his driver. Did it two weeks ago, worked very smoothly.

Thanks for the instructions.

He just called me and said the desk was easy to find, driver was driving a brand new E-class.

Anyone else non IO picked up by a IO car? Was waiting this morning thinking the driver hadnt arrived despite the sms he did. So stood there for a while before he asked my name. Very nice car! Do IOs get different cars in outstations too?

Depends on local servicing arrangements but generally just whatever they would give for F.

At DXB maybe there is a package waiting at your office ;)

If io would be based on miles flown I'd probably qualify, but i fly so much economy so I doubt I'd receive a package any time soon!

‘Fly’ economy or just ‘pay’ for it. You seem to get your fare share of op ups, plus I guess you try to get miles upgrades if that fails. How much time do you actually spend ‘downstairs’ or ‘in the back’?

This is a good case of observation bias, you only really see where I'm flying when I get upgraded when I post in the upgrade topic. I spend about 90% in economy.

You are correct but in my defence, that observation bias is created by 'reporting bias' of your (still numerous) upgrades ;). If you collected your 400K (or so) tier miles by actually sitting in Y, I feel for you. I can only hope you are young and short....:D

Out of the 142 flights I took last year, the longest I did in Y was 12 hours :)

Hi All

For what its worth flying F tomorrow from STN to DXB, got an email from Tristar around 7pm last night confirming, 5 min later Tristar called me and confirmed the booking, in the email they listed an S-class so here hoping.

I do have a question that I hope some one can help, I'm flying on to JNB and have booked a CD to pick me up, does anyone know if there is a CD desk that I need to go to or will someone be air side with a name board?

All the CD drivers will be waiting landside with name boards. You leave the secure area after customs and enter a large arrivals hall. You’ll find them near the information desk.

I have had an S Class listed several times now and not received one so don’t get your hopes up too much.
