Thanks! I would have not used them otherwise! By the way, do you know what the vouchers include or are there certain limits to what you can order (eg dinner time) ? |
Recent Dubai Connect experience in J?
Hi all,
Need to do a mileage run next month to renew Gold. Am flying J and have an 11 hour DXB layover on return (I land at DXB at 23:00 on a Sunday evening). Just checked MMB and EK has offered Dubai Connect. Has anyone had any recent experience? What is the immigration queue like with J? How long did you spend getting in and out of the airport? Overall is it worth it? I would normally suck it up and head to the J lounge, but with an 11 hour layover, I'd love to have a proper bed. Thanks! |

Even if at peak time, i believe most are connecting pax and would not go through immigration. You still have the Fast Track pass access.

Anybody had a recent experience in F/J. Is Le Meridien still the hotel of choice, I hear they have started using the Copthorne as well for premium passengers?
Are meals included in the hotel stay? |

Not exactly recent, but I was in Le Meridien in July which is the usual hotel I am assigned. It is very comfortable and they gave me a breakfast voucher as I was checking in around midnight. I usually eat in the EK lounge at the airport but that time thought I would try the hotel and it was excellent. They provide dinner vouchers for evening arrivals with a choice of restaurants, though most restrict menu choices for EK passengers unless you pay extra for the more expensive dishes. However, the choice is more than adequate. Occasionally I am assigned the nearby Roda Al Bustan (formerly the Al Bustan Rotana) which is also very pleasant. I was there in April. Again, appropriate meals are provided which are also very good, though only at one specific restaurant. Both hotels are close to the airport so it only takes about five minutes to and from via EK provided cars. I have never been assigned the Copthorne.

I wonder if they put J / F passengers in the other (non-EK) wing? I stayed at the non-EK wing a couple of times and it was fine - a normal 4 star hotel similar to what you get in the EK rooms at the Le Meridien.
I'm sure the hotel is adequate just surprised with the drop in service levels I guess. They basically own Le Meridien.

I don't believe that the Copthorne is a regular J/F STPC hotel until there's some further corroboration. It may have been used for heavy overflow or perhaps there's a misunderstanding, there's not been much to confirm that this is indeed the case |
If you're in the Copthorne I'd say just go for a swim and then head to the J/F lounge. Food is not great and breakfast restaurant often crowded with massive groups of Y pax in transit.
