Sir Tim Clark: “We are in the process of [starting A380 retirements]. Two have been deactivated. They are under retirement because we’ve got a major overhaul coming up and it’s best to take the old aircraft out – they’re all written down – and take the gear off them rather than buy a $25 million main landing gear. I need two, possibly three, to meet that [overhaul] requirement.”

Anyone know the frames that have been retired?

It is not official, but seems to be A6-EEH and A6-EEK.....but this is just a speculation....

Hopefully they remove the newer IFE screens from these and put them into some of the older birds, pre EEF

SEA is tricky as it usually gets the older seat with some new ones sprinkled in. The last few weeks have consistently been the new(ish) lie flat seat so there is more hope than I would have had a couple months back but there's always the chance you'll get the old seat as it's easy to make a aircraft swap. Earliest you will know is when the aircraft leaves DXB on the day of travel. So as the previous poster said, expect the old and hope for the new.

It seems like SEA is getting the newer seats more regularly now.

A6-EBC has not be seen for a while as well...maybe retiring too?
Anyway, a bad time for taken a 777 out of service.
Many flights have been downgraded from A380 to B777.....

A6-EBB, delivered in March 2005 is retiring after 15 years of service.

Rumour has it that it will become a part of the GECAS 777-300ER P2F program.

Not sure if A6-EBB is the first GECAS B777/300ER to leave the fleet....but she is the first B777/300ER with 3 class cabin to leave...
All others B777/300ER that already left EK, had a 2 class cabin configuration.

About to fly A6-EVK. I’ve heard that the newest 388 3 classes sport the new bar. Stay tuned...

EVK is the newest A380 in the fleet (Dec 19). Definitely has the new (railroad carriage type) bar. And the WiFi should be workable too. :D

New bar and solid wifi. A good frame to get!

6 77W registration A6-EBB, EBC, EBE, EBG, EBI and EBJ was the fleet that I discovered today as they are going to be withdrawn this year while 4 A380's are expected this year.

This is ALSO one of the 6 77W to be retired and part of 6 aircraft of EK to be withdrawn this year.
