While have been on the suites on A340-500 and the 777-220LR, after reading this thread, has also lead me to more excitment towards my flight on F Sept 4th to Pek.

I have flown A380, J on SQ in 2008. But cant wait to fly F on A380 on EK

If you have a long layover in DXB, make sure to take advantage of EK's complimentary hotel room.

F on the 77W is far better than the A380 IMO. Smaller, more personal, quicker service - the A380 is a bit like a dorm, even in F.

This greatly varies. Some people feel than the A380 delivers a superior experience because of the F showers and the F/J bar.

If you mean of the F and J complimentary nights, then i have. Although it wont be the the complimentary 2 nights at Armani hotel cos my inbound sector was on J class, so only entitled to 1 night at the address.

Sorry if this appears to come as rude to someone.

But i just couldnt stop asking myself this question?

What do you guys do/work for a living to be able to afford to fly first class in A380. the fares look astronomical to me at least.

Hope i am not being too cynical !!!

At the expense of sounding like a real estate agent (which I'm not, haha), it often comes down to location, location, location. You can get really cheap first class fares out of Colombo to Asia with Emirates, including routes operated by the A380 (e.g. ICN & PEK).

I second that, I just found a fare in first from CMB - PEK for about $2656 return ^^

Here is the list.

Mine are with United. Note, though, the value per mile is somewhat less when using partner miles.

Good question! Those who can afford to always pay the top fares are less likely to be found on FT than those who specialize in 'value' for money in their flying experiences

I have flown F twice on DXB - LAX, once on a comp op-up, and once with miles and I think I enjoyed the first one much more ! Not just because it was free, but because that was my first time! But they were both on the 777 and the next time I use miles for J to F, I'll save it for the 380 to have the onboard shower

My F experiences in LH are similarly with e-vouchers or with SWU's from United - not with paid fares. One grouse with EK is that you only get the FCL in DXB with an outbound F BP, while with LH you can access the FCL with either an incoming or outbound F BP.

So maybe next time on LAX - DXB - MAA, I'll take the 2:50am connection instead of the 10pm connection to have ~6 hours in transit, use miles to u/g DXB - MAA to F and then try the FCL in DXB which I have not yet experienced!

I could not agree more! I 'got into' first class in May 09 when I was flying from LHR-AKL. EK were offering very competitive fares back then due to the recession etc. Anyway, I was quote GBP 2400 for J and just as an exercise I re-priced to F and was amazed when GBP 2700 was offered. I snapped it up! Never seen a fare remotely like that again! Oh BA wanted GBP 10,000 for the same itinerary, which involved changing to Y at SYD!!!!
