First timer on A380 First Class
Hello Fellow Emirates'er
I have book my first First Class A380 flight.
From SYD-DXB-LHR.
So what not to miss?
I would hate myself for missing out on anything.
Don't hold back.
I feel like a kid before Christmas

Whay hey! I love it when someone is genuinly excited by it
It's wonderful.. Bar, Dom, PJ's, Food on demand, Showers, Spa Kits, ICE, Dom, Bar, Dom.......
I have said this before, but there is great satisfaction and going to the bar at the back of J and asking for Dom, the crew (the first time) always tell you its reserved for F class passengers - Kerching! Whack out your boarding pass and you get Dom, they will serve it to whom ever you are chatting with too.
My fave seat, 2 or 3 A or K, windows in the middle, 1 A and K you see the showers and the bar if your door is open, 4 A or K is slighly more noisy as its near the toliets in J, which F can use if the showers are in use.
Middle Seats are for lovers! And you miss out on the 4 windows...... A and K feel totally private.
F lounge in DXB - you know it? Great little bar service and great food if you order from the menu and not from the buffet - although the buffet is still good - great salads! Best Lebanese Olives I have had out of Lebanon too.
Dont take massive carry on, there are no overhead lockers, you store your bag at teh end of the bed, under the wardrobe, too big can be a little in the way i guess, although i assume the crew can soon put it somewhere else for you.
Enjoy it, you will love every minute of the long long journey! Beats BA by miles in F............
Have fun!

A quick heads up not to panic when you first get to your seat and find that the doors and seat controls do not work - they are disabled until after take off and the crew then come round and switch on each one individually. I would not like you to have any anxious moments at all!

Before heading to the onboard lounge, let the crew in F know you would like a bottle of champagne sent ahead of you. This saves any confusion / embarrassment for the crew manning the bar.

Done it twice now, and very nice indeed. Mmm, the shower I thought was a gimick, until I tried it, and it is a superb freshener, just make sure you book it with the flight attendant. Food on demand, big TV, a lovely pen in the writing kit, (oops, took mine both times) but overall a special experience, and one not to be missed.

Ugh, only 2.5 weeks until I experience the pleasure as well! Unfortunately I only have a 6 hour flight, but I will be enjoying every second of it...

I totally agree. My wife and I (we have never flown this married, but only engaged, but will be flying it in October) always take two of the middle seats.
The only downside is that you have different crew serving each one of you as you are in a different aisle. Usually the crew try and sync your drink pouring, meals, etc.
You will have a blast. Also make sure you are well rested ex. Sydney so that you don't sleep too much (unless it is Dom induced sleep)^^^

It is an amazing experience! Did DXB-SYD-AKL-SYD-DXB last year and loved every minute of it. Make sure you experience the shower! You are allocated 5 minutes of water but can use the actual spa for about 30 minutes, which is huge! Lots of room to 'pamper' etc! The suites are spacious and very comfortable. Food, mostly, delicious and is 'on demand'. I especially liked the cereal option for breakfast! Also spend some time 'socialising' in the J/F bar at the back!

I have gone on the A380 half a dozen of times, and each time it's better than before, specially in terms of service.
Yesterday I did DXB-SYD, 6 suites out of 14 occupied (including my wife and myself). The crew was superb in every way. You could say professional, friendly and warm at the same time.
The shower experience is the best and as far as I know the only one in the world on a commercial airline. My wife discovered that the shower's tile temperature can be set to warm. Just slide your finger across that little sensor pad under the tv screen in the shower and you could set the floor temperature there.
I managed to get a full shower, including a full body scrub, hair conditioner and the water indicator showed 1 bar green (just above the middle). I spent the rest under hot water.
I suggest you wet the lufah and soap it in the sink prior to entering the shower.
Also the shower sequence would be something like: wet hair/body, shampoo hair and wash it off, then srub body and condition the hair then rinse off. (obviously pause the water after each step).
Back to my experience, I was surprised that, even though it was the EDA (first A380 delivered to EK couple of years ago), everything felt and functioned like new.
Like DTB said, 2/3AK's are the best if you're solo. The window seats have few more storage compartments too.
1A/K have one less window, has a little more wind noise, and toilettes/bar noise, but feel more private. 4A/K are the ones to avoid because of the galley/kitchen noise.
My only gripe with middle seats is that you can't see any windows (which is only relevant during taxi/takeoff if you like to look around).
The food out of DXB was excellent. I am pretty sure you will enjoy it as well. Out of SYD, I wouldn't hold my breath for it. My suggestion is to dine in the lounge in SYD where the food is simply superb, then snooze off after take off. Have a light breakfast/snack prior to landing into DXB. Then enjoy the food at the lounge during your transit.
Ditto to DTB on the Lebanese olives in DXB's F lounge (and other Lebanese plates: hummos, baba ghannouj, fattoush etc) These were the best I've had, ever. And I'm Lebanese, so that says something about how good they are
Yesterday's flight was the first flight in a long time with EK where I saw my bags appear in SYD within the first 10 bags out. Not sure about LHR's end of things, but if you're returning down underI would suggest you ensure the check in staff tag your bags properly.

About the seats being locked during taxi/takeoff/landing. You could slightly recline the back (about an inch) and extend the lumbar support section to lengthen the seat bottom even if the seats are locked. This makes a big difference in terms of comfort while seated.

Thank you all.
Thank you for all your good advise.
This has only added to my excitement...
I won't be able to sleep the night before, just like christmas.
-So far we got 3K, 4K SYD-DXB.
2EF DXB-LHR.
Just so we can try both!
Once again thank you all for your advise.

You will love it!!
I agree with all the points everyone else has already posted. I "borrowed" the gold "suite guide" book on a flight a couple of weeks ago, and realised I missed the pen
I'll be flying on EK1 next week, so will make up for that!!
The biggest problem I had was trying to contain my massive grin.
I didn't manage to do that, but did close the doors for a while just to let it all out, whilst I tucked in to my Iranian caviar!
I fly a fair bit, and it's a long time since I've been that excited to fly - really looking forward to the return journey.
Oh, and one more thing to do - whilst drinking your champagne on take-off, switch on the tail-mounted camera - I love the perspective on this. Beats the normal forward camera by miles.
