What do you guys do/work for a living to be able to afford to fly first class in A380. the fares look astronomical to me at least.

Hope i am not being too cynical !!!
Good question! Those who can afford to always pay the top fares are less likely to be found on FT than those who specialize in 'value' for money in their flying experiences

I have flown F twice on DXB - LAX, once on a comp op-up, and once with miles and I think I enjoyed the first one much more ! Not just because it was free, but because that was my first time! But they were both on the 777 and the next time I use miles for J to F, I'll save it for the 380 to have the onboard shower

My F experiences in LH are similarly with e-vouchers or with SWU's from United - not with paid fares. One grouse with EK is that you only get the FCL in DXB with an outbound F BP, while with LH you can access the FCL with either an incoming or outbound F BP.

So maybe next time on LAX - DXB - MAA, I'll take the 2:50am connection instead of the 10pm connection to have ~6 hours in transit, use miles to u/g DXB - MAA to F and then try the FCL in DXB which I have not yet experienced!
