And in the meantime 4X-EDC has landed in TLV and from March 3 it will operate the HKG rotation.

It's very nice that LY now has true Premium Economy on the 787 but they can't seem to price it properly. Just compared r/t TLV-NYC and LY Y+ came out to more expensive than C on the route on a variety of European carriers including AZ, SN, LO, BA, LH, and OS. Yes it's direct, but I'd rather save the $100 and fly lie-flat on BA.
Now compared to SU (aeroflot) where Y+ is $1200 r/t but thats only on SUs 777 which once a day to/from TLV the other fllights are 321s or 330s that dont have Y+, and at times extremely long layovers, which is OK if you have an Israeli PP since you wont need a Visa but a US citizen either has to anti up $160+ or stay put airside Im very much thinking of flying LY going forward as I just did a CX in Y+ and a world of a difference UA is nuts with its Biz fares and Y sooner then later will be 3-4-3 on both flights |

Not a fair comparison, with the exception of BA its a reg coach seat to/from Europe and if a person doesnt want to overnight in Europe it means taking a 5-6am flight sitting in a coach seat where the armrests dont go up for 4+ hrs. LY in that case is worth the extra $$
For long haul - I would still pay J with pretty much anyone as the leg to TLV is on average 3.5 hours or less, which is fine even for euro J seats. Besides, IB has a decent mid haul J to TLV. And the armrests go up an down n LH, OS etc. LY does not price its Y+ competitively and it means that if it stays that way they will not be making money on and will scrap it completely, as it will become a PL and TPL perk rather than a revenue engine. |

BA isn't the only decent airline with C to Europe.
But looking at the flip side, I'd rather save $1K then to fly Y+ through Europe. $1K difference. |

IB uses now only A330 on the route, so it's the normal long-haul J seat.

For the morning departure ex-MAD I think. All the MAD-TLV evening ( red eye) legs I have taken recently were the mid-haul J A319.

Just a shame LX doesn't have Y+

Im usually on the morning flights and believe me its a big difference not getting anything but a reg coach seat width and pitch wise @ 5am, sure I have a 9 hour flight Im connecting to but I much prefer LX where I can grab a few hours of sleep , but its pricey and LYs Y+ should allow a savings and although not a lie-flat still alot more room and hoping the ability to fall asleep |
Except in this case, LY's Y+ is priced roughly the same as LX's C

Premium Economy 787 seats?
Anyone have advise on seating preferences in Premium Economy? Row 10 (bulkhead?) vs. a back row?
Also, any compaison between exit row economy on ElAl 777 vs random Premium 787 seat? Is the Premium seat worth the additional cost? |

Not worth the additional $$$ over a E+ seat on the 747 or 777, exit row or not. However, Y on the LY 787 is horrid - so if you MUST fly the 787, then I suppose go for the PE. As long as there is a non-787 option, choose it. The LY 787 is terrible. |
