Claiming EU261 issue
Looking for any help or advice...
I am trying to claim compensation for a cancelled flight, however I am running into an issue because I booked the flights on behalf of someone else.
I booked two flights last month for family members from Belfast to england, to attend an event. I did not travel on the flight myself. Their flight was cancelled with less than 12 hours notice, and any easyjet alternatives offered were days later, meaning they would miss the event. I rebooked them on an aer lingus flight. They kept the return flight on easyjet so only the outward journey was affected.
When I applied for the cost of the aer lingus flights to be covered by easyjet, they did pay me the difference which is fair enough.
When applying for EU compensation for the cancelled flight - if I put myself as the booker, Easyjet reply and say I am a 'third party' and I cannot claim. Even though I booked and paid for the booking.
When my family member put a claim in, after I was denied, they got an email back saying they could not find the booking. Please resubmit your claim providing the information below:
None of the information they asked for, was missing from the original claim. What happens when the lead booker is not one of the passengers? How can we resolve this? My family member was only trying to claim for themselves, and not for the other person on the booking.
I don't know if Easyjet are trying to be deliberately difficult, or there is some other way we need to process a claim when the booker was not one of the passengers.
Thank you for any advice.

easyJet have a habit of doing this merry-go-round, Ive heard of this happening to quite a number of travellers. Do appreciate it is the traveller who is entitled to UK/EC261 compensation and not the person who booked the tickets so bear that in mind when claiming.
If EZY continues to give the go around you might wish to consider complaining via AviationADR. To be eligible to make a complaint against easyJet, you must have already complained to easyJet directly in writing and either received a final written response (sometimes referred to as a deadlock letter) or given easyJet eight weeks to respond to your dispute. AviationADR can only deal with unresolved complaints. You will find the details here:
https://www.aviationadr.org.uk/how-t...asyjet-flight/
If you have any further questions or need any guidance on the process please do come back here.

You would need an executed POA to claim compensation on behalf of the passengers as you have no (legal) interest in this (you only booked but not travelled)
It is far easier if each of the passengers submit a claim for compensation in their own name and state the exact details that EZY is requesting.

I am using this old post.
I booked a flight EDI-NCE on 5 July for 223.97.
The flight arrived 3h45 min late due to a technical problem then crew timed out ans was replace.
I put in a claim and Easyjet sent by email a EUR100 voucher for a new Easyjet Holiday booking before 31 Auguste 2024 for travel before. It is totally unusable for me.
Of course, the email cannot be answered.
I believe that UK/EC261 entitles the pax to at least a 220. Distance between EDI and NCE is 1,561km, so should be 350
What should be my next step? file another claim??

Did you specifically make a claim under UK261 or did you make a generic complaint and theyve just thrown a travel voucher at you? On the information provided you are entitled to UK261 compensation of 350 per passenger. I would clarify with the airline that you are claiming 350 UK261 compensation.
My problem is that I am not used to EZ, and cannot find how to pursue the claim further.
There is no claim number.
The email they sent said not to reply to this address.

You need to use the specific application forms.
This is the one for compensation: https://www.easyjet.com/en/claim/EU261
This is the one for reimbursement of your welfare/right-to-care expenses: https://www.easyjet.com/en/claim/welfare
I suspect the 100 holidays voucher is separate to any claim you made, as they have been doing a big marketing push in the last few weeks. I've received two vouchers recently and haven't had any cause to complain for quite some time.

I successfully sued Easyjet Europe for alternativ flights and damages several times in Austria due to the local HQ. Austria has a good legal system compared to many other EU countries. I dont bother suing again after receiving a negative reply.
