I frequent one in the DFW area (Waxahachie, TX) when traveling that is hands down the best customer service venue of ANY retail establishment I know of the in the entire U.S. If you are in the area check it out. It's pretty over the top and I pretty much like it that way.

Wow! small world.... since my town's (Ennis, TX) city manager is so anti-business I have to drive 10 miles to this one to enjoy CFA on the weekends when I'm not in Big D at work.

good alternative to burger joints

I have to admire Mr Cathy for being able to keep to his principles and maintain the store closings on Sunday. I hope that future generations of management will do the same.

The menu is a great alternative to the hamburger joints..... sorry I gotta go.. its lunch time.

I am a very non-religious person, but find nothing offensive in how they operate. As a customer, I see nothing explicitly Christian about their business. I have yet to receive a Bible or other explicit Christian literature with my son's kiddie meal at CFA. (The fact that just about all the prizes are educational is a plus in my book.) The employees don't invite me to come to Jesus. There are no posters advertising local churches.

In contrast, I've been in Middle Eastern stores and restaurants with posters for the local mosque, and Indian restaurants plugging upcoming Hindu festivals. I've been asked if I'm a M.O.T. at a local Jewish deli. These places are much more upfront about their owners' religious beliefs. So what? That's never stopped me from enjoying my meals there. You like the food, eat it. You don't, don't.

I respect the Cathys for following their beliefs and keeping their restaurants closed on Sundays, in spite of many millions of lost revenue each year. One of the reasons they can attract higher-quality employees and (especially) managers is because they can guarantee them not just one day off, but the same one each week. That's a rarity in the restaurant biz.

Bringing it back on topic - My personal favorite item is the Southwest Chicken Salad. Good stuff and very low-calorie.
I also wonder how many people know that In-And-Out Burger is also Christian based. (The bible scriptures hidden underneath the cups and wrappers.)

For the record, though, the best thing at Chick-Fil-A is the Chicken sandwich. One pickle. What more do you need?

Fascinating. Let's see how many people now declare that they will boycott I-a-O.

I like Chick-Fil-A - I really do :-) And nutritionally their greasy food is not even that horrible... except for one big exception:

milkshakes....

Milkshakes by CFA are a true calorie/sat. fat bomb. I was actually surprised that a chicken sandwich + fries is (if I remember correctly) equivalent to one milkshake... almost.

But I tried once, and they ARE yummy

Edit: after the website:
std chicken sandwich has 410 kcal, total fat = 16 g
fries (medium): 370 kcal, total fat = 21 g

milkshake (cookies & cream): 790 kcal, 33g (and 100 g of carbs :P)

We only have 2 stores in the entire San Diego area but 1 is close to my house. I have to agree on the basic chicken sandwich, cheap and good, just slap some mayo on them, and the waffle fries are good if they are cooked well done.

I am surprised at all the fans of Chick FIl A food.

Now I wish I could get to Menlo park or Paramus Park or Woodbridge Malls to get my Chick Fil A fix!

They need more than one CHick FIl A in NYC though.

I enjoy it, but I do not go out of my way for it. Thus, I usually end up eating it at airports such as PHL and IND.

On the double double with cheese,
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
Does this refer to the cardiac arrest some people may encounter after consuming too many?

We go on Tuesday nights once or twice a month for family night. The kid gets a free kid's meal and ice cream, and they do fun things for them (pictures with the cow, balloon animals, face painting, etc). If you don't have kids, stay away from Chick-Fil-A on Tuesday evenings, though. Trust me.

I love it, but I wish they would get rid of the MSG so my wife could enjoy. She can only have the grilled sandwich. (Migraines from MSG).

McDonald's has taken on Chick Fil A's keystone item with a nearly identical "Southern Style Chicken Sandwich".

They don't do it as well as CFA, but when you compare the size of the operations and Mickey D's marketing clout, this has got to make CFA'ers nervous.

Thanks! Forgot about McD's Chix Sandwich. Checked the web, and no MSG! Good for my wife!
